First, Huckleberry’s character shows that he is compassionate towards everyone. An example of this is when Huckleberry came across a wrecked steamboat in the river. This procedure makes Huckleberry Finn very skillful. The situation starts with Pap inclining to insulting after drinking too much. At that point, Huck decides to leave that part of his life behind. The only problem was to get out without being caught. The only reasonable explanation was to fake his death. He started with taking “ … the sack of corn meal and took it to where the canoe was hid” (p. 32). He took the corn meal, as well as other food and ammunition also. After realizing how much Jim cares Huck feels so horrendous he says “ It made me feel so mean I could almost kissed his foot to get him to take it back” (p. 86). As time passed Huck says “ … I could work myself up to go and humble myself to a nigger; but I done it, and I warn’t ever sorry for it afterward, neither.
