How Is Lady Macbeth Guilty For Duncan's Death
Lady Macbeth was a very ruthless person. She started out as a meager individual who was hungry for power. This hunger led to the plotting and scheming of many deaths in the play. She plotted Duncan’s death, which essentially created a domino effect for all of the other deaths in the play. Lady Macbeth feels especially guilty of the death of Macduff’s wife and children. Being a woman, she cannot imagine her very own children being murdered. The guilt eventually consumes Lady Macbeth to death and it kills her.

The guilt that Macbeth feels is real from the start. It can be evaluated throughout the play with how he acts and some things he says. When Macbeth had killed Duncan, the guilt is obvious as soon after committing the bad deed. Macbeth’s guilt is evident that when a servant had said “God bless us,” Macbeth couldn’t “say “Amen”” (2.2.28). He isn't able to bring himself to say it due to him knowing that he had just killed a man for his own selfish gain. Macbeth knows that what he did was a horrible deed and now he is acknowledging his consequences which include guilt. Following Duncan’s death, Macbeth is never himself again, which could be because of the guilt. Macbeth believes that he is “in blood stepped in so far, should [he] wade no more,…

    Macbeth Duncan's Murder

Lady Macbeth is more responsible for King Duncan’s murder because she had higher ambitions than Macbeth. She forced evilness upon herself and her high ambitions pushed her to the point of no regret for murdering the king. Lady Macbeth says, “Come, you spirits That tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here, And fill me from the crown to the toe topful Of direst cruelty”(1.5.30-32). This is a clear example of how her ambitions have driven her to the point of evil acts to commit this crime. The act of calling for the evil spirits in order to follow through with a murder is a good reason why King Duncan was murdered. Lady Macbeth also had not only forced herself to murder the king but to force her husband to follow through with the plan of the murder…

The only way Lady Macbeth can rise in status and gain power is through her husband; she is an ambitious woman in a time where only men profit from ambition. Therefore, she concentrates all her ambition on her husband. This ambition and loyalty is her driving force, but ultimately her downfall. Lady Macbeth is presented as a loyal, ambitious, flawed character that is stronger than her husband and knows it. She has both feminine and masculine characteristics which allow her to literally get away with murder-she is manipulative, ruthless and cunning.…

The story of Macbeth, an inherently good man who is slowly poisoned by the evil acts he commits to further his ambition, is a classic Shakespearean tragedy. Macbeth is first seen as a loyal, brave man, but as the play progresses, he begins to be overtaken by his darker side, partly due to the encouragement of his wife, Lady Macbeth. As Macbeth rises to power and gains the title of King of Scotland, both he and his wife become increasingly unhappy and feel extreme guilt for the murders they have taken part in. The play culminates with both Macbeth and Lady Macbeth dying, showing that evil actions have their consequences. However, though both Lady Macbeth and Macbeth were responsible for evil in the play, the witches (who told Macbeth that he would be king one day) were the ones who initially planted the seed of ambition and violence inside Macbeth. The witches are most responsible for the evil in Macbeth due to the fact that Macbeth would not have committed the murders if the prophecy had not been told.…

Lady Macbeth is an ambitious and ruthless woman who desires power and status. She appears stronger and more callous than Macbeth as she manipulates him to assassinate Duncan. However, as the bloodshed continues, her guilty conscience becomes more affected than Macbeth’s. Unlike Macbeth, who grows insensitive to the murders that he has committed, she descends into madness and (apparently) commits suicide as she becomes less capable to withstand the horrors of her crime.…

In the first two acts of Shakespeare’s Macbeth, Lady Macbeth shows herself to be a formidable woman with aspirations and a plan. She is clear about her desire to become Queen of Scotland and by way of her internal conversation, she plans her manipulation. By knowingly manipulating Macbeth and applying consistent pressure, Lady Macbeth executes her plan. She encourages Macbeth to see killing King Duncan as the only logical next step to fulfill the prophecy. Lady Macbeth’s intent, blatant disregard for life, and emotional manipulation of her husband make her morally responsible for the murder of King…

    Mental Trauma In Macbeth

The audience is introduced to Lady Macbeth when she is plotting the murder the king, sacrificing her womanhood and humanity in the process. She is shown asking dark spirits to take away her mortality and womanhood in order to be able to actualize the prophecy. Lady Macbeth then starts planning Duncan’s murder to secure Macbeth’s position as king, and even finds herself coercing her husband into agreeing with her plan. She tells him that she would, if she had promised Macbeth that. In the end of the play, however, Lady Macbeth obtains no compensation for her untiring support of her husband and his increasingly violent crimes. Lady Macbeth’s main motivation for encouraging Macbeth to kill Duncan was to see her husband succeed and become king, not for her own benefit. Therefore, when she sees that all her hard work and sacrifice have led to nothing, she becomes infuriated to a degree where she is mentally ill. She thus ends up sacrificing her sanity and wellbeing for a position that does not advantage her nearly as much as it benefits Macbeth. Evidently, Lady Macbeth is willing to give everything up, such as her humanity and her own offspring, to help Macbeth become king of Scotland, yet in the end she is mistreated by Macbeth and receives no compensation for her…

In conclusion Lady Macbeth is mentally unstable. She longs for power and to become queen. But in the end she cannot handle pressure of murder and guilt on her shoulders. This is why she killed herself. The irony of it is if she didn’t guilt Macbeth into killing Duncan for not taking his chance and being a coward, she wouldn’t have felt guilty about anything at all. Because Duncan would still be alive and none of this would have ever happened. And maybe Lady Macbeth would end up sane in the end if it wasn’t for what she had…

    Who Is Guilty In Macbeth

Although undoubtedly guilty of murder, there is no doubt in my mind that this is a clear-cut case of diminished responsibility. Throughout the whole sordid business the defendant whom I am representing has been beset with evil influences designed to erode his free will and conscience. If there was a penalty for the only flaw which he showed before he was mercilessly exploited by these evil forces, which was that of ambition, I believe we would all be convicted at some point in our lives. Without the manipulations of evil, the idea of kingship would never have occurred to the brave and loyal Macbeth, who has time and again proven his courage and fealty in battle.…
