How Is Napoleon A Good Leader
Good characteristics of being a good leader consist of being merciful and cruel when you need to be. As a leader, you shouldn’t be merciful all the time because this will lead to your people trying commit crimes against each other. Also, if you are too cruel to your people, your people will try and rebel against you. Also, your people won’t like you or respect you, if you balanced between cruelty and being merciful. Then your people would respect you and not commit any crimes. Napoleon fulfills some of these characteristics of being a good leader. Napoleon isn’t a cruel or merciful leader. Napoleon is merciful most of the time unless on Animal Farm there are traders or people that admit to stealing or committing a crime, then he has them executed.

Towards the end of the eighteenth century the nature of warfare would dramatically change on both upon the battlefield but more importantly how it affected society. Continental Europe was engulfed in war from 1792 following the establishment of the French Republic and continued with the rise of Napoleon until his eventual defeat in 1815. Between 1792 and 1809 the French army seemed to grow from strength to strength turning from a “métier of the aristocrat” small, professional army to the first mass citizen army of the modern world. The success of the Napoleonic era French military in the first five coalition wars cannot be credited to one cause alone. Instead the Revolutionary/Napoleons’ Army (Grande Armée from 1805) had several contributing factors to its major successes.…

He worked for only more power and used people to his advantage. Napoleon did not like the idea of Animalism but he liked the idea of him being the most powerful so he created lies that would allow him to be boosted up above the other animals, giving himself the most power. Though Napoleon was not a good public speaker he used animals such as Squealer, a convening speaker who could manipulate words to their advantage. Napoleon represents Joseph Stalin who was a not in agreement to the idea of “communism” but liked the idea of him being in the highest power of authority. He was relentless and murdered anyone who opposed him, though he was a leader he also did not do very well with public speaking nor was he educated well, he only craved power. The ruler is one of the most important parts of a country. They can cause gain or loss for the people, and sometimes even a mixture of both. An exemplary leader can bring great change to a nation, and there are many who have caused incredible reforms. For example, Abraham Lincoln abolished slavery in the United States, and King Louis XVIII of France inadvertently caused a revolution. Though Louis may be well known, the most famous of France’s rulers was arguably Napoleon. His military success and determination led to a huge amount of power within his French Empire, but ultimately a great fall. The entire nation of France was able to appreciate Napoleon and give him perhaps more credit than he is due; they saw him as a beacon of hope. Much of Napoleon’s rule consisted of extreme changes to France’s society and church, but other areas, such as education, individual rights, and government, were hardly affected.…

Born in 1769, Napoleon Bonaparte is one of the most famous people of French history. Being immersed in the military from the age of 9 and on, it is no wonder that he became one of, arguably, the best military leaders of all time. But, the question comes about, was Napoleon a hero or a tyrant? Along with the many good things that Napoleon did to help the people of France after the French Revolution, came some very, very bad things. In no time he went from being loved and adored by the people of France to being absolutely loathed. Some people argue that even with all the bad things that he did, Bonaparte was still a hero, but how can somebody who did so many terrible things still be a hero? Napoleon was a tyrant because of his belief in equality for only half of the…

The actions and decisions Napoleon made during his rule over France give evidence that he was a tyrant. A tyrant is defined as a ruler who uses power unjustly or oppressively. Napoleon used his power in both of those ways. He not only limited who had power in society, but also controlled the church. By trying to monopolize all of Europe, it is shown how harsh Napoleon's rule was and how tyrannical he really was.…

For one, Napoleon was extremely egotistical. He only cared for himself and was only concerned with how things affected him. The good of everyone else was secondary. Count Mole, who was a Councilor of State, Minister, and peer of France said of Napoleon, “he thought of nothing but his own gratification, of magnifying himself and his power without limit and without rest.” When Napoleon proclaimed to his troops on the Commencement of the war and third Coalition, he stated, “Soldiers, your Emperor is among you!” As you can see from the quotes, Napoleon thought of himself as a Godly being who was better than everyone else and looked down on others. This is one of the reasons I think he is more of a tyrant than a hero.…

Though he has the potential to become a great leader, he allows selfish ambition to overshadow the original dream of a farm where animals live in harmony and contentment. With dishonest and harsh conduct, Napoleon ultimately establishes himself as a dictator, leaving the other animals miserable. Through his utter lack of integrity in his actions, Napoleon proves himself unfit to rule. He also indicates how individuals in any position of authority have the opportunity to become a deceiver and oppressor or a blessing and inspiration. Truly effective leaders earn their followers’ esteem by displaying unselfishness, honesty, and…
