RuPaul Andre Charles rose to become one of the most famous American actor, author, recording artist, and model in the 1990s, and was best known as mononymously as RuPaul. As a person who appeared regularly in different variety of television programs, musical albums, and films, being famous could just be described as the reward for hardworking.
Born in San Diego, California on November 17, 1960, RuPaul was named by his mother, who was a native of Louisiana. The prefix “Ru” was adopted from roux, a term for the base of different creole stews and soups. During the 1980s, RuPaul struggled in Atlanta, Georgia as a filmmaker and musician. He was a key participant in the underground cinema, a low budget film, and an album.

Despite the huge success witnessed by his first album, the second album failed to chart with the Billboard 200.
Nevertheless, the first single off the album was a success in the dance market. The single topped to number four on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart, and also enjoyed mainstream success. His third album was released in 1997, entitled Ho, Ho, Ho.
RuPaul released his fourth album, Red Hot in 2004 under his own label RuCo Inc. Although it was not a huge success, however, it received some club play. Despite the fact that the album got little attention on radio and club, some tracks witnessed huge success and even top the dance chart.
After the release of his first remix album in 2006, RuPaul started producing his reality television game, RuPaul Drag Race in mid-2008 and aired in February 2009.
