In the very early scenes of the movie Solomon is forced to say he's a slave, he is told he would be beaten if he doesn't. He does not then he is severely whipped for it. This is a gruesome scene and I understand why he doesn't give into this but I personally do not believe it was the best choice if he hadn't been so severely hurt. Exploring deeper into the complicated relationship of Patsy and the plantation owner and find out if he's having an affair with her and from what you gather through the movie he's in love with her the choiceless choices here is to let him use her body in his.This like all the other choices is difficult but this one, in particular, I found tremendously conflicting perhaps if she had an outright told his wife she could be sold to another slave owner but that could also mean an evil or worse situation or she could just be killed me rather than helped. This was once again an example of surviving but I also believe that going to the other Plantation with Mistress Shall and listening to her talk about how she became free and her new life in a fairytale gives Patsy the wrong impression so she allows her owner to use her body for her survival but also in part willingly believing that one day she could have a fairytale life like
