During the time Bruno and his family spent in Auschwits, the novel “The Boy In Striped Pyjamas” by John Boyne states that the main idea dealt with racism. Racism was the base of three things; beatings, secrecy and it even tore the family apart.
The ongoing beatings were just horrendous. Nazi’s made the Jew’s go without food and water just because they are a different race. They raped and abused people for fun, like when Lieutenant Kotler killed the lady because she spilled the wine, and how Father was telling Bruno that Jew’s aren’t people. “'The people I see from the window. All of this was a total secret. Mother tells Bruno, his family had to move to Auschwitz, but Bruno’s Mother also says she doesn’t exactly know what he does, other than it’s an important job.
