How Is Tradition Important
How is Tradition Important

A tradition is a kind of ritual, belief or object passed down within society. It is a mode of thought or behavior followed by a people or a group of people continuously from generation to generation, a custom or usage. Nowadays there are less and less traditions followed by people in the world. Modern people mostly forgot beliefs of the past. Contemporary life is hectic and filled with events, people are busy all the time and hardly find time for communication. It also reflects social life. But I believe that tradition is an important part on a person’s life and it should be saved. Firstly, tradition is a part of history. If it helped people to exist for centuries, it brings something significant to our life. If a tradition is given up, a part of human life will be lost. We will loose a part of our experience and something what makes us a particular personality. Secondly, by giving up a tradition people will make their life less interesting and less stable. All our holidays are traditions; they have been celebrated for many years by our ancestors. In addition, traditions bring stability to our life; even define events in the near future. Many modern laws are adopted versions of different traditions of the past. Moreover, a family and bringing up children is also a tradition which has been followed for centuries. Finally, traditions are the main part of culture which makes a group of people a unity, a nation. Tradition is also a common belief which can unite absolutely different people into society with a system of laws and standards of morality which are based on traditions too. For example, people whose family has their own tradition or a set of traditions, feel together like a rounded thing than a family without traditions.

In conclusion, traditions are a part of our life, a part of our nature. They make our social life a complete thing. Customs and beliefs also bring stability and system and allow us to feel certain about the future. People should not give up following traditions because they are a part of our sociocultural experience which has brought us to the modern standard of development.

Traditions are customs or beliefs handed down through a family and sometimes created without even realizing it. The routines or foods shared when we come together are repeated and become a part of who we are. A detail made clear, a few weeks ago, as my daughters and I shopped for groceries the day before our Super Bowl gathering. As we grabbed chips, dips, sodas, baked beans, chicken, and barbeque sauce, one of my daughters said, "Don't forget the ingredients for 'Mom's ChickenEnchiladas'." I never realized, until then, that it had become a traditional dish served at all our family functions.…

The prospect of individuals accomplishing something illogically, just to appease the continuation of something that was done by their forefathers is absurd, unless there was a positive outcome from it. This implies that as time advances some traditions should be removed and disappear, especially if such traditions involved the termination of another life. Furthermore, it insinuates that traditions should not dictate human behavior to the point where the people loses their sense of…

What does it mean to have a cultural tradition? A cultural tradition is the handing down of information, beliefs, and customs by word of mouth or by example from one generation to another without written instruction. In Kevin Kling's "Hook, Line, and Television," Kling was someone who kept to the tradition that happened in the cold weather and when the lakes were safe. His tradition is to go ice fishing every year in Minnesota when they decide the ice is safe. My cultural tradition is that my family and I make tamales for Christmas. This is a tradition that happens in Mexico and since my parents are from there we follow the tradition of the Hispanic culture. Not only do people consider it a tradition, but it is also part of their ethnic background. As we continue this tradition, we also expand on the people we end up sharing this tradition with others that celebrate it with my family.…

The theme “One should not blindly follow tradition for tradition’s sake”, can be proven true in the poem “Mending Wall” by Robert Frost, and the short story “The Lottery” by Shirley Jackson. In both works, you can see how people follow traditions because their previous generations did. In the poem, literary devices help show how the neighbors meet to fix fence because their previous generations did. In the short story, the whole town gathers in the town center to have a lottery because it has gone on longer than the oldest person in their town.…

“A tradition is a belief or behavior passed down within a group or society with symbolic meaning or special significance with origins in the past”. It is the existing knowledge that we got from our parents; and parents got it from their parents, and so on. Tradition represents culture. These two words are inter-connected. Without tradition, there is no culture and vice-versa. These words bring us the meanings for our life and make us who we are. We behave based on how we were raised and taught by our parents, their parents, and so one. We…
