Life in a small town where everyone knows everyone is special compared to life in a big city – that is one of the messages raised in the book Sharp Objects by the author Gillian Flynn. Even if there are many things that are alike in a life in a big city and a little town there are also some clear differences. These gaps are about growing up, cohesion and increased gossip and prejudices that exist.
The cultural differences shape an upbringing that establish a stamp on what person you become. It is clear that Camille has a particular identity now that she was born in Wind Gap than if she instead had been born in Chicago.
