Pearl harbor
“ A date which will live in infamy”(President Franklin D. Roosevelt). Could the attack on Pearl Harbor been prevented??? To find that out you have to look back at the past. The attack on Pearl Harbor could have been prevented if the United States opened foreign communication with Japan, improved military defense, and recognized the importance of the intelligence reports on Japan.

Japan knew that if they accepted these terms and surrendered, all their progress on becoming an imperial power would be lost. Japan refused to accept these term from the US and continued their activity in China. To protest this the United States placed an embargo on oil and steel from the US. America did not want Japan to have any more activity in the United States. The United States was Japan's main source of oil and the embargo threatened to cut off Japan's supply line and threatened economic problems. Later Japan started planning the attack on Pearl Harbor. The plans on the attack first started on February 1941. Mitsuo Fuchida and Minoru Genda were the heart of the attack plans. The main idea of the plan was to send most of Japan's air force to Pearl Harbor at dawn to surprise the enemy. The first targets were American airfields to keep enemy planes from launching. After the air strips were down Japanese planes were to start targeting battleships and aircraft carriers. Smaller ships were not to be targeted as Japan thought it would be a waste of bombs, although if any ship was to wander
