Also, for a certain area of the body, the prosthetic has to be able to have a certain type of function in order to work. For instance, lower limb prosthetics have to be weight bearing so that they are able to carry the weight of the person and still be able to work efficiently. Each prosthesis has to fit the person’s activity level, prosthetics to be used outdoors will be made differently than ones use indoors. The different types of prosthetics (i.e. endoskeletal and exoskeletal prosthetics) have to be able to fit in where they are supposed to go and benefit the people using them. Endoskeletal prostheses are the prosthetics that involve internal tubes and things covered in a soft foam outer. Exoskeletal prostheses involve wood covered with a rigid kind of lamination. There are some things about prosthetics that people are not necessarily fond about. For example, expenses can be a problem that one might have. Prosthetics can be very expensive depending on the type of prosthetic needed, what the prosthetic is needed for, or what the prosthetic is replacing. If the artificial body part has to be lightweight, it will cost more than a body part that is not. Lightweight prostheses are more difficult to make because the materials are harder to find, which cost more money to produce. Some of those materials include titanium or carbon fiber, or even hydraulic knees, which are aerospace materials that are extremely expensive to obtain and even more difficult to manufacture, which will increase the cost of the prosthetic altogether. With the expensive costs in mind, the person has to choose which prostheses they want in order to be cost efficient but also still able to do what they were doing in their lives without many
