How Safe Are Mobile Phones?
Millions of people own a mobile phone these days, and ever since they have been around scientists question the fact of they are safe or not. Do they cause tumors, earaches, mercury poisoning? All these health risks are mentioned in every article I found. But nowhere could I find anything that was sure if mobiles did cause all of the above. This is where science fails us. The problem is that mobile phones are still too new to know the long-term effects on human. Mobile phones give of a radiation of radio frequency round 10MHz to 300Ghz. But so do other appliances. Why does mobiles especially get put in the picture of being hazardous? Soon it will be clear whether the radio frequency emissions from mobiles cause health effect.
Drivers who use there mobiles whilst driving are the only "health risk" that can be proven, the drivers get distracted and lose control over the vehicle. Technology invented something for this, hands-free sets. But now the question is do those hands free sets really solve the problem? Researchers now are looking at if the hands free sets don 't cause other problems. A report from the magazine "which?" said that hands free kits raised levels if radiation to the head from mobile phones by up to three and a half times. The consumer association immediately stressed that it had done no research into this whether this radiation could cause damage to the brain. That just proves that whenever there has been research a report is released to prove that research wrong. Probably is done not to cause any chaos.
Mobiles are said to cause brain tumors, they say this because there was found to be more tumors of the same kind amongst mobile phone users. Mobiles cause memory loss, radiation sickness. Mobiles can disturb your sleep pattern, according to the researchers from the university of Zurich, mobile phones increases brain activity during our sleep. A really strange result of the use of mobile phones is that mobile phones can release the

One of the main reason cell phones might have the potential to harm us human beings are because of a form of electromagnetic radiation called radiofrequency energy. Electromagnetic radiation can be categorized in two types: ionizing and non-ionizing (National Cancer Institute). Here is why this is a problem, exposure to ionizing radiation is known to increase the risk of cancer. However, in regards to non-ionizing radiation, like microwaves and ovens, there is currently no evidence that relates non-ionizing radiation to a risk…

This article talks about how cell phones are not linked to cancer. According to Danish researchers, the biggest study ever consisting of 350,000 people found no evidence of any link. This concluded that people who have used a cell phone for a decade don’t have different cancer rates than those who have not. Last year, a different study found no connection between cell phones and cancer. But it showed a possible connection between heavy phone usage and glioma, a brain tumor that is rare but deadly. However, this information was not enough to support the case. That study of over 14,000 people in many countries, along with animal experiments, led to classifying electromagnetic energy from cell phones as possibly carcinogenic along with coffee and gasoline engine exhaust. But cell phones don’t issue the same radiation that is used in medical tests or found in radon soil so there might not be a risk. The Food and Drug Administration and the Federal Communications Commission have no evidence of cell phones being linked to cancer but people still have fears of getting it, although cancer rates have not risen since cell phones were introduced. Researchers have updated a recent study examining 358,403 cell phones users 30 years of age and older in Denmark from 1990 to 2007. They found that cell phone users did not have a higher risk of cancer than those without them. Cell phone users also aren’t more likely to develop a tumor in a part of the brain where phones are held against the head. About three-quarters of the world’s population use a cell phone. This makes it difficult for scientists to compare cancer rates between users and non-users. The advocacy group MobileWise said that the Danish study wasn’t enough to consider the long-term risk since brain tumors can take decades to develop. In about 30 other studies, those with brain tumors…

Pawl states in his editorial, “Cell phones are more dangerous than cigarettes!”, in Surgical Neurology, “The long term use of cell-phones was leading to brain tumors and was more dangerous to health than smoking cigarettes” (Pawl 445). To actually believe that over time the use of a cell phone is more harmful than the tobacco and nicotine inhaled by smoking is a shocker. Although the cell phone itself may not create and spark some sort of new cancer, it is said that cell phones do increase the chances for gaining other health problems (Pawl 445). Pawl also brought up something called EMF’s (electromagnetic fields). Electromagnetic fields can cause all sorts of problems to the human body from nausea, dizziness, headaches, etc. With this sort of exposure from a cell phone over a long period of time, even starting at a young age has a much greater risk. Also over time exposure can cause things such as ipsilateral, glioma, and acoustic neuroma (Pawl 445).…

Cell phones emit radiofrequency energy, a form of non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation, which can be absorbed by tissues closest to where the phone is held, according to the National Cancer Institute (1). Although there is no definite evidence that cell phones can directly cause cancer, there are some skeptical signs that are being noticed. Cellphones have not been around quite long enough to detect an increase in cancer directly from cell phone use (mayoclinic.org 1). According to a meta-analysis of cell phone studies there is a consistent pattern connecting cell phone use and an increased risk of developing a type of brain tumor on the same side the phone is held to (Hardell 1). In addition to brain tumors, radiation from cell phones may damage…

It has only been in recent years that researchers have found danger with mobile phones. If you assumed that you have never been in danger by simply using your mobile phone, think again. The worry is that phones give off radiation which is inside the phone, and the thought is that it goes in to your brain when you talk on the phone. The problem is that phones have not been around long enough to see the long term effects of regular usage and it is unknown just how much usage is dangerous. Scientists and researchers cannot prove this but studied for around two years to come to conclusion. Professor Darius Leszcynski from Finland, led one of the studies said “Mobile phones are still safe to use, for the time being. We have no scientific proof, so the current safety…
