selfish. Don John selfishly entices Borachio and Conrade into his evil plan to destroy the marriage. He convinces Borachio to make it seem that him and Margaret are Hero and another man while Don John shows the scene to Claudio and Don Pedro for a measly one thousand ducats. Then he selfishly flees Messina leaving Borachio and Conrade to serve punishment for his evil plan. Don John thinks only of himself and his pleasure when he conceives the plan and only carries it out for the purpose of pleasure. In exchange for the compassion that Don Pedro showed to Don John, by letting Don John join Don Pedro’s army, Don Pedro receives an act of criminality against his best friend and right hand man.
