This book is an autobiography written by Michael Gates Gill, the author of a New York Times bestselling book, How Starbucks Saved My Life. He had also written another book, How to Save Your Own Life.
Michael Gates Gill had the easy life as a kid. Wealth, a large house, and anything more he could want. But what he didn’t have was a strong bond with his father because with wealth came a price. Gates father had a high end job at a big corporation, and had spent more time taking orders and calls than he had been with his son. Gates was young when the Gill family had hired their first nanny. He was closer to their nanny than his own father, and when the nanny was unable to care for Gates any longer, she had quit. They later hired a new one, one who could not yet speak English, which left him lonelier than ever before. Gates was devastated at the replacement of their nanny, but was overjoyed at the fact his father would be able to share this Christmas with the family. On Christmas morning when all of the presents had been freshly opened, his father received a phone call. He had to leave once again. Events of disappointment had become a regular occurrence for young Gates.
When gates had graduated from high class college, he had almost immediately received a job opportunity at a large business marketing company. His job was practically handed to him with use of his father’s connections in the industry. Gates had been at the top of the company for 25+ years and had just been laid off. An affair had ruined his marriage, he lost his house in the divorce, and his girlfriend is now pregnant and has lost interest in him. Gates was at his worst. He strolled down to his local Starbucks near his small apartment, to get one of the only luxuries he could now afford, a latte. When a manager jokingly offers a job to Gates, he jumps at the opportunity. He was about to get a new perspective on life and how the world works. Realizing his new dream in life
