being added to make them look thinner and more defined. Technology affects our daily lives and how we entertain ourselves.
Video games have a big impact on that. Video games can cause someone to possibly quit their job because they feel the need to accomplish this. In South Korea, there are all night video gamers that make themselves sick or possibly die because they are not eating or drinking for a long time. Technology, not only video games, can add stress to daily lives. If you post a picture on social media and people start to bash it, it will cause you to feel bad about yourself. This connects back to the way that we look and think about others. All women are not sexual objects, they should be treated like a human being. Think of your phone, we have some sort of apps downlaoded. Sometimes those apps are for good, such as the books, or sometimes they are bad, like YikYak. YikYak is not one of my favorite social medias. This app lets people post annonymously about anyone in your area. There is SO much bullying that goes on
here. There were many lessons that came from what the readings and videos gave us. For one, we should always think about other people's feelings before commenting on them. Another lesson is, just because you see everyone else do it, does not mean you should. If you see your friends playing video games constantly and becoming addicted to them, you should not follow them. Video games can also help people communicate. Whether you are with a group of friends or playing online, you have to communicate strategically to be successful. This teaches people how to work together. When I thought about technology, I just thought about how far it has come. Not even 50 years ago the internet was invented. Now we have all kinds of social media that we can communicate with. Technology has done good for some, but also bad. Technology has connected some, but has also burned some bridges between people. Technology will have its ups and its downs, but it can be helpful in many ways. Technology has advanced quite a bit because, I can bet you, when the internet first came out, they probably did not think that we would be able to take so many classes online. They probably did not think that we would be able to use technology to help us in our day to day lives. Technology is more than a cell phone or a computer. Technology is those programs, the apps you can download, the picture editing, and much more. These apps can make you lifestyle healthier. I have a FitBit, so I have the FitBit app. I am able to track exercise, food intake, water intake, and my sleeping. This has changed my life for the better. I have learned so much more about technology. I have learned that it can degrade people much faster than any other media. Between commercials treating women like sexual objects and teens degrading each other on social media, I now know that I have to think before posting or saying anything.I also plan on giving my kids a lesson about technology, social media, and all other media. Even though the media will degrade people, no one should EVER feel like they are being bullied. I have been bullied a few times on social media and it hurts, just because everyone can see it. I grew up with tough skin, but when someone says something to hurt me, and everyone can see it, it makes me feel like they all think it too. Growing up in a generation where everyone has had a phone since they were 9, makes it just part of your lifestyle. Reading about technology has made me think so much more about multi-tasking. No one is a good multi-tasker. I am terrible. As I am sitting here writing this, I am in a dark room, with no lights besides my computer and I am able to knock this out much more quickly than if I was sitting in front of a Television. Technology impacts so many things in our daily lives. It impacts things you would never think about. When you grow up with technology, it just becomes a part of your daily life. So next time you are trying to get homework done, go sit in a quite space with no distractions, no phones, no televisions, nothing.
