How to Cope with Stress
Stress is a demand made upon the adaptive capacities of the mind and body. It is a very common problem being faced today, which every individual will experience one time or another. There is no right or wrong way to deal with stress. If you ask ten different people how they deal with it, you will get ten different answers. In the article Coping With Stress in Bridging The Gap, I completely agree that those are some of the great ways that people choose to cope with stress, but I believe that it is not limited to just those things. When I am stressed and feel like I can't have a good sleep, I take a warm bath before sleeping. Reading a book or listening to music before bedtime also helps me. Another great way I cope with stress is to write. I write everything I'm feeling into a notebook or even in the notes on my phone so that it isn't stuck in my mind, making matters worse. A lot of people don't like to express their feelings to other people. That is why I feel that writing is a great way to “get things off your chest” without having to actually speak to anybody about it. I asked my mom how she deals with stressful situations and she said that she uses retail therapy or taking a vacation. She said that when she shops or goes on vacations it makes her feel good and keeps her mind off the stressful situation that she was dealing with. I also asked my boyfriend and he said playing basketball. Just like my mom, he said it helps him keep his mind off the situation. Even though that works for them, I

Stress has helped me before, especially with meeting my deadlines by improving my time management skills. As well, stress has aided me in working towards effective conflict resolution skills, if the root of my stress revolves around people. Also, the feeling of conquering my tasks makes me feel good, so there’s also that pleasure factor to take into account. Stress motivates me to do better, but in moderation. The only way stress is helpful is if it’s taken in dosages, and if it becomes too overwhelming I need to take a break. Sometimes you just need to clear your mind. Stress just takes over your body and it overpowers you. You need to know how to control it by doing something physical.
