A Driver’s licence allows not only adults, but also teenagers, to go to and from their work; furthermore not everyone who doesn’t have a High School diploma is ignorant. The idea of people without a diploma being lesser humans with not as much knowledge as the common man is an outdated mindset. Teenagers of this day and age have been taking a lot more responsibility in the working community, through part time jobs and such.
They are able to get said jobs by having means of transportation such as their own vehicles they can drive. Without a license the capability of making it to work on time lessens, and consequently they either won’t get the job, or will lose it sooner rather than later. I myself have a full time job, working 40 hours a week when school has let out for break, in seasons such as summer, and winter. Without my Driver’s license, not only would making it to said job on time every single day be nigh impossible, but I most likely wouldn’t have gotten the job to begin with. Driving is essential to a teenager’s life, and without it, their life experience is halved from what it could have been with
it.
The Bill which would disallow anyone from getting a Driver’s license without a High School diploma is not fair on any basis, and would be a mistake to ratify. Nearly every young adult- teenager -needs a license to gain access to late nights with friends, and making memories that make life worth living. Why would you choose to ratify this Bill now, if it wasn’t an issue for you when you were our age. I implore you to rethink your opinion on this issue if you disagree with me. In this century, transportation has become a cornerstone for a great deal of changes. This Bill which makes a Driver’s license restricted to those with a diploma, is ill-conceived, and should not be ratified.
