How to Tell If Your Dog is Healthy

Your dog is our good friend and a part of your family. You want to keep it healthy and strong and be your companion for a long time.

You care about them like your own children, and want to give it a lot of tender loving care. Your dog cannot express its feelings in words, but it will show signs that can indicate what it is feeling at any time. It’s up to you to always be on the lookout for these wordless messages. You need to keep checking your dog often, to see the total picture.

Here are some information on how to tell if your dog is healthy:

SKIN. A healthy dog should have smooth and sinuous skins, with no rashes, scratches, sores, scabs, and growths. If your dog is always scratching, then it feels uncomfortable. You should find the source of the itch – is your dog infected with fleas? If you did not find any fleas, check if it has dry skin. If it doesn’t have dry skin, maybe it has allergies. Look

A healthy dog should have ears that are the color of its coat on the inside; pinkish, but not reddish. It must be clean without plenty of wax and discharge. The ear should also smell fresh and clean. Clean your dog’s ears regularly. If there is an awful smell, perhaps your dog is suffering from ear infection or allergies. Ear problems are painful and might cause loss of hearing for your dog.

MOUTH. Like humans, healthy dogs should not have bad breath. Offensive breath is a sign that your dog might have rotten teeth or some form of gum disease. Its gums should be healthy, pinkish in color. Your dog should have clean teeth and with no tartar build up. Introduce your dog to the habit of tooth brushing. It will prevent problems in the future.

EYES. A healthy dog’s eyes are clear, with no tear stains, and with no sign of discharge. If you find anything unusual about your dog’s eyes or if they were injured, do not waste time, bring your dog immediately to the vet, to avoid permanent damage to its
