Chapter 3: Prompt #1: Holden is back in his dorm at Pencey Prep and he decides to sit down and read a book called Out of Africa. However, he is briefly interrupted by a student next door named Ackley. Holden finds him extremely irritating because of his disgusting hygienic practices. Ackley also keeps on asking Holden questions, which further aggravates him even more. Then, Holden’s roommate Stradlater enters and Ackley finally leaves.
Chapter 4: Prompt #1: Holden is in the bathroom with Stradlater as he is shaving. First, he compares the differences in Ackley and Stardlater’s hygienic habits. They laugh and Stradlater requests of Holden to do his English homework, as he will be going out on a date. However, Stradlater is going out with a girl that Holden knows, Jane Gallagher.
