Being the captain of the competition team has also taught me a lot about going into an education major.
The biggest team I was on consisted of 24 girls and I had t learn how to give constructive critism to each and every one of them, most being completely different. I didn’t realize until now how much this will benefit me in my future work life. I now know how to talk and teach different types of people and how a lot of the time, people learn differently. I know that people like to be spoken to different ways and you just really have to get to know someone to understand them, and try to teach them, and that is all thanks to
cheerleading. My cheer coach for the past 4 years has also taught me how to prepare for a career in elementary education, coincidentally she is also a elementary education teacher, and she shares stories about how (sadly enough) us teenages compare to her 4th graders. When my coach shares stories about how she starts her day with her class ( a fun song that relates to the popular dances out) it helps gets her kids focused, so she starts a lot of our practices out with yoga, because she says it helps us focus, and we all love it! Im very lucky to be a milton cheerleader, ive been taught so many things that will stay with me forever, and I fell far more prepared than others for elementary education, because of it.
