Cyber Bullying
What Is Cyber Bullying? Cyber bullying is a serious issue. It is harassment caused over the internet or mobile phones. Cyber bullying occurs when a child torments, harasses, or threatens another child. This is never involved with an adult or that is known as cyber stalking. There is actually a law against cyber bullying. Students think it’s so cool to bully others when they are just playing around but the victim will most likely take it offensive.
What Are Ways To Prevent It? One way to prevent cyber bullying is by telling others to never pass on harmful or hurtful messages about someone to others. That person could be really embarrassed about it. You can also step up to friends and tell them to stop cyber bullying only if they are. Another way is by letting parents watch what their children are doing on the internet. That way the parents know if anything is wrong with their child. There are many more ways to prevent cyber bullying.
What Are Some Experiences Of It?
David Knight of Burlington, Ontario was cyber bullied pretty bad. Someone in his school made a website about him saying, “Welcome to the website that makes fun of Dave Knight.” So many people in his school posted dirty things about him. He hid for weeks from everyone outside his home frightened to death. Another example is a 10 year old boy named Phoebe. Kids from his school called him and saying he was in the cow club. Along with telling him to call the loser hotline. They got his friend’s little sister to whisper stuff like, “I’m going to kill you.” Unlike in these two stories, a lot of cyber bullying turns out to murder, suicide, or the victims cutting themselves.
How Do I Report It? You can report cyber bullying by letting your parents know. They will take care of the situation but just in case they don’t let the staff of the school know. They must take care of it immediately. Tell your parents to let the
