How To Write A Reflective Essay On Leadership Qualities
Leadership Manifesto/Reflective Thinking Essay #1 Breaking down my leadership qualities and traits and what kind I am the first thing that always comes to mind, is that I am one who still has a lot to learn and many skills to develop. Yes, I know that all of that will come with time but it remains a lingering thought letting me know that there is always room for constant improvement. That being said I would like to consider myself as a transactional leader. I greatly enjoy getting involved and checking in to ensure things are getting done right when the occasion calls for it. To include the added bonus of handing out rewards to the individuals that worked day in and day out to uphold and meet or exceed the standards I set and agree with them on.
I would like to say that I use both styles related to a transactional leader which are; management by exception-active, and contingent rewards styles. Both styles work great with my strengths as a leader and help keep me on my toes and working on my

That is one of my qualities that makes me unique my past. Another unique quality that will aid in the type of leader I would like to be includes my relentless demeanor to not give on things, I would like to carry and will carry that over to the point that I will not give up on a subordinate. I want to be (THE), emphasis on the, supervisor to go to for talking, fixing problems, and outstanding job knowledge. I want my subordinates to know that I care and will help them and guide them towards excellence at and away from work in any and every possible way that I can. Stated earlier this is why that same though and notation keeps floating around in my head that I still have a vast amount to still work on, learn, and develop to be the type of leader I plan on

Leadership can be defined as a function of knowing yourself, having a vision that is well communicated, building trust among colleagues, and taking effective action to realize your own leadership potential. All leaders essentially strive to complete the same tasks: provide direction, set goals, make a vision, build a positive environment, instill values, motivate, resolve conflict, and teach. James Kouzes and Barry Posner (2002) developed a survey that asked people which characteristics of leaders they look for, admire and would willingly follow. The results of the study showed that people preferred the following characteristics: honest,…

My strongest leadership qualities include sympathy for others, perseverance, and motivation. When I see others in need of help, I am able to sympathize with them and I become motivated and driven to seek help for them. I persevere, and give my best effort until I feel I have done what I can. My leading by example inspires others to pitch in too, and together we can rise up to the cause. This can be seen in many famous instances of bravery and leadership, such as with Dian Fossey and her fight to end gorilla slaughter. These qualities are very important not only to be a good leader, but a good person as…

I believe that I show leadership qualities by being an excellent academic student. I have worked hard to achieve my goals, which are to make good grades, rank in the top 10% of my class, and graduate with honors. I continue to push myself to excel, I have been on the AB Honor Roll since elementary school; and I am currently #8 in my graduation class. I know that I am capable of being a leader, I am trustworthy, dependable, disciplined and responsible. I expect more of myself than my teachers and parents do. I am a true friend, I do not tell my friends what they want to hear, I tell them the truth. I am not a follower, I am a leader and I plan to be a leader on into my college years.…

Through the course, I learned about leadership different styles and how they emerged and developed from the Trait Theories that focus on the leader characteristics to the Goal Orientations Theories that require collaborative methods between leaders and followers. As I mentioned before, I had always linked the leadership weight to the leader leading characteristics. However, I would argue now that leadership is gained through practice and experience and it is powered through followers. As a school leader, I will use a mixture of leadership theories. First, I will build my school on an ethical basement and then, I will structure a vision that is shared between everyone in the school. At this point of my study, I believe that the type of leadership…

The leadership influences for me started on the first Monday morning quarters onboard the CGC Yocona. I was right out of recruit training, firing on all cylinders and ready to tow the Coast Guard line. Quarters was held on the mess deck and the young BM3 was handing out work lists for the day. I did not know who he was but I watched and listened to everyone call him by his first name. Once orders were given out to all parties he then asked if there were any questions. I was not introduced nor given a work party so I raised my hand to inquire where I was to go. I mistakenly asked him by his first name where I was to go. The morning turned from bright and casual to tense and stormy in an instant as he verbally tore into me as loud as possible. This degraded and embarrassed me which…

I am dependable, trustworthy, ambitious, and understanding; continuously striving to do the right thing and putting 100% of my effort into my task. I am dedicated to making sure everything I approach is to my personal standard of excellence. I was able to put use to these traits after being elected Youth Leader of my churches Youth Group. I was given the opportunity of helping people make the right decisions and motivate them to continue to strive for greatness. As a hands-on leader, I tried to instill patience and understandings within my fellow members and to inspire them to continue to do the right thing even outside of…

I’m not entirely sure how my subordinates would describe myself as a leader since I was only recently put in charge of the wheel & tire section at . In that short time though, I would hope that they see me as fair, hard working, reliable, and determined. I strive to fit myself into an organization when I first arrive and to get a feel for how the processes and procedures flow. I like to sit back and observe before I decide what, or even if, any changes need to be made. This would also depict how I think my supervisor would describe my followership. That I am willing to accept adopted procedures and methods before inputting my ideas on any changes that I feel should be made. As a leader, and a follower, I believe in getting and giving ideas when solicited or offering those ideas if I feel they could make a positive contribution. I also feel that excellence is the only standard worth measuring by, and that in order to train my subordinates I cannot always take charge. I may let my subordinates take charge and simply supervise/observe thus allowing them to grow as leaders. I feel that my style of leadership is effective since it allows myself and others to contribute to, and fully accept, ideas as our own. Pride in ownership is key.…

In the past years, I’ve done a lot of writing. In high school, I had written multiple essays and here at Peirce I have written multiple essays as well. All throughout high school when I was writing essays I always had grammar mistakes and run on sentences. Also, I knew how to construct an essay, but I did not know how cite in APA or MLA format. In the beginning because I did not know how to cite in APA or MLA format and because I had run on sentences and grammar mistakes I negativity looked at this. Now since I have been writing more I look at it positively because if I did not make those mistakes and learned from them I would still be making mistakes. Lastly, I never took advantage of the resources around me before. Therefore, my goals for…

In this semester of English, I wanted to do better than my last. I wanted to become a better writer, a better researcher, and a better communicator. Writing and researching has always been hard for me, so I knew I would have to work hard on all my assignments. I never really thought about myself as a writer, and if I needed to communicate information I would have done it in person. But when I started college and entered my first English class I knew that would have to change. English 101 was a little more difficult for me than English 102. Each essay had a deeper meaning and for me, that made it much harder. When I got into 102 I had a little bit more freedom on what I wanted to write and research. Because of this, I became a better writer.…

My leadership potential is somewhat paradoxical. Although I am very driven and passionate about my work, I make sure that I never boast about my accomplishments. From basketball, I heard the phrase, "Hungry and Humble." I would say that this is very accurate to my leadership capabilities. As a leader, I am very "hungry" to accomplish our task at hand. My drive and passion fuels me to finish the job. If I were to receive any recognition for my work, my first reaction is always denial. I respectfully deny any praise given to me. Eventually, I accept the praise, but I always make sure to acknowledge my team or anyone who has helped me in the process. Humbleness and humility are very important virtues that I hold very high in the list of what makes a powerful leader. Another quality of myself as a leader is my…
