How To Write A Section Leader Speech
My speech is attached below in two different formats. Hopefully, one of them will play, but let me know if there are any difficulties and I can try to resend it in a different format.

I was also hoping that the staff member overseeing the clarinet section leader speeches could mention to the section that I won't be present for section leader training but explain that I'm out of the country on vacation.I didn't get a chance to put that in my speech, but written below is what I would have included if that's helpful.

I just want to be perfectly honest and let you all know that I won't be attending section leader training. I've been planning a trip to Italy for over a year now and in fact purposefully scheduled it during the band break to keep

To be clarinet section leader, it would be a privilege, no, an honor. Being the student leader would be an accomplishment for me. A section leader must stay on top of everything in their section. So if I become clarinet section leader, this will help me be a role model for the incoming freshmen clarinetist.…

I was a part of the Newnan High School Marching Band my tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grade year. It was a great experience. The Newnan High School Band became like a second family, and the band room was my home away from home. As it got closer to my senior year, I started wondering who was going to get the title of clarinet section leader my last year of marching band. I felt like I would be the one for the job. When they finally informed us that leadership applications were available, I was excited to get my application. I wrote an essay and prepared for my interview. I knew I had the qualities they were expecting in a section leader. I was kind to others, hardworking, friendly, helpful, understanding, and approachable. I anxiously anticipated…

Since I have been in this band, I have grown as a musician learning to read treble clef from playing baritone and also from guitar. This allows me to be able to read every sections music. I believe this is a great help because when each group breaks apart and does sectionals I would be able to help out every instrument no matter what clef they play in. I cannot wait to guide the new band members, freshman, in their first season of marching band. I will also bring plenty of fun and character to the band. Though my job isn't fun and games I believe in having a good time at all times even while learning and working. That's…

During my junior year I was the section leader for the Alto Saxophones, and I went on to become drum major the next year. I attended a drum major camp to learn how to correctly and efficiently lead the band. Along with the help of the section leaders and the other drum major, we lead the band to learn more sets and music than we had ever done in the past. By the end the that performance at the SVVSD Band Night we had practiced the non-stop eight minutes of music more than some would have liked to. No matter how well we performed, I was happy to have seen the band come so far since the beginning. The band has given me so much since my first day of camp freshmen year. I have come out of my shell, and found peace from everyday stress as well as a new family to rely on. When I joined the band after that last performance, I was so grateful for the opportunity to have been drum major and I knew that we were…

My fellow student Chris gave a well-organized and coherently structured speech that followed the guidelines imparted to us in our textbooks. The use of vivid connectives and transitional sentences enabled his speech to flow rather smoothly. Overall he was very successful in conveying his message on smartphones to the audience. Like many of my other classmates, the only problems I picked up on were not in content of the oratory but in rapidity and articulacy – two things than can be attributed to presentation-day jitters.…

    Jazz Application Essay

As section leader of the clarinets at Mukwonago High School’s top band ensemble, I am expected to guide my section to success. I lead sectionals and help the other clarinet players with high notes and intricate rhythms. We go over how our parts connect with each others and how they connect with other sections in the ensemble. Aiding younger members of my section helps both me and them to grow musically. I also help lead our jazz combo at school. In a team effort, we express our ideas on phrasing and how we can evoke emotion through the notes and rhythms to the audience. When we share our thoughts and ideas with each other, we promote a friendly and accepting atmosphere that we then take to our other classes. In our marching band I may not be section leader, but I lead by example as one of the strongest mellophone players. By memorizing my music and executing my location in our formations, I set myself and those around me up for success. With all of this teaching and performing experience, I am ready to move on to…
