How Well Did You Meet Your Individual Foods (Food Groups, Amounts, Variety)
How well did you meet your individual food recommendations (food groups, amounts, variety)? I did not meet my individual food recommendations very well. For grains, I reached my food recommendations more than any other food group. Since, I come from a Vietnamese household, rice is eaten at almost every meal; however, the rice we eat is white jasmine rice which is a refined grain. On that particular week, I frequently ate peanut butter sandwiches for lunch which contributed to my grains. I rarely had whole grains in my diet and filled most of my grains requirements with refined grains. On some days I far exceed my recommended amount but on some days I was within a good range. As for fruits and vegetables, I consistently did not meet my recommendations. I usually had the …show more content…
I did not make enough effort to include more fresh fruits and vegetables in my diet. Instead, I continued with my usual diet. Since I was tracking my intake, I was more conscious about my intake, yet consuming fruits and vegetables proved to be more difficult than I had imagined. I did not go grocery shopping and only ate what was available at home, which was mostly bananas and steamed vegetables like cabbage or okra. I got tired of bananas and my fruit intake declined. At times, vegetables were not readily available at home so I skipped on eating them. I learned that I had to take action in order to attain my goals. I had to take the initiative and go to the market to buy the fruits and vegetables myself to make sure I like and will eat what I picked out. I learned that I have to forgive myself for my setbacks in order to achieve my goals in the end. When I did not get enough fruits or vegetables I felt bad about my diet and felt like would never get enough for my goals. Instead of doing that, I should have tried to make up for my setback by preparing to eat more in the future. (WC:

How does your diet compare to the recommendations you received from the Food Guide Pyramid? I just recently decided that I was going to start eating healthier. I am not on a diet! That is just too much stress. However, I have made quite a bit of progress with changing how I eat. The recommendation that I got were not that off of what I’m trying to accomplish. I need to eat more fruit and vegetables. I have been doing well with the grain and fiber intake. I need to do better with my sodium intake, which is still a little high, but is much lower than what I used to consume.…

    1) I did list down what I had for the last 24 hours and I found I had something from each of the five major food groups which are correct per MyPlate.com. I exceeded the number of servings for vegetables because I take romaine lettuce and add a little bit of seasoning (Mrs. Dash) to it and eat it like I would eat chips. This helps me to get the crunch I like and also keep my caloric intake at a minimum.…

→ According to my 3-Day Average Food Groups report, I consumed no whole grains. MyPlate recommends eating minimum of three grains of whole grains daily, and it is recommended that people of my gender and age eat six ounces per day. I could increase my whole grain intake by eating whole grain cereal (when I do eat them) and using whole grain types when I am cooking pasta or rice. Some obstacles for achieving this goal includes time and money. As a student I lack time to make a trip to the grocery store (especially with the lack of a car) and time to actually cook. Other obstacle includes money—healthy products often cost more, which influences my decision to buy. Furthermore, since my intake of food is limited per day, I tend to choose…

We’ve heard time and time again during our lives how important it is to eat fruits and vegetables or to have a well-balanced diet. We also know how hard it can be to ensure that you are eating enough of the right thing. Are fast food restaurants as bad as people make them seem? How do you know if your diet contains all of the essential vitamins and minerals? The answers to both of these questions lie in the results from the three-day food intake assignment I participated in. Using the information I recorded in IProfile, I was able to record my intake of protein, carbohydrates and lipids, the amount of fiber intake, and notice pattern or trends in my diet that could be modified.…

The results for my new diet when compared to the recommendations from the SuperTracker are very bad indeed. I am not eating enough grains, vegetables, fruits, dairy or protein foods. An average for the amount of grains I consumed was 6 and a half ounces which is 2 servings each of these days. I consumed one and a half cup of fruits and vegetables which is about 2 servings on Saturday. I did not eat any other fruit during this three day period. I also consumed a quarter cup of dairy. From the proteins foods group, I consumed 2 and a half ounces and from the oils groups which is not a serving at all, but when this measured is about 2 teaspoons.…
