One of the main factors for this swap in sectionalistic/nationalistic feelings throughout the country was the beginning of the industrial revolution. Before the Industrial Revolution, some New Englanders even talked about leaving the Union during the Hartford Convention. After the Industrial Revolution, the North’s place in the Union would be stronger then ever. The industrial revolution caused many northern cities, such as Boston, major economic growth. While previously the New England colonies’ economies were not as strong as the South, the North overtook the South in economic terms. Factories sprung up and manufacturing became a major part of the economy. Unlike the North, the South was not as greatly effected by the Industrial Revolution. They remained in their agrarian economy even as the North advanced. This caused a divide between the amount of railroads and factories between the North and South. The South began to lag behind the North in economic growth. The roles that had been set in the 1810’s had been reversed. Now the South wanted to secede from the United States.…

Between 1492 and 1763 the colonies were growing and improving their conditions from before when they had lived in Britain. Although the colonist all came for a similar reason of escaping religious persecution and had the same idea when it came to organizing their colony, they did however have a difference in class organization and how they were to go about in their trading and farming economy. The south and the north may have been comparable but they were also two totally diverse colonies at the same time. After Columbus found the new world, the pilgrims and the Puritans came over to receive religious freedom. That is what many new settlers came to do.…

Difference of climate and location, industrialization, and lack of concrete government decisions, led the North and South to become two completely different societies with completely different values and ideas, the most controversial topic being slavery. Because of the rising concern of these factors, the two regions differences amplified during the 1800’s. Although the two were so different from each other, they relied on one another in order to maintain their separate ways of life. The South has a climate with lots sun, with humid summers and heavy rainfall. This is perfect for agriculture and the capability to produce an abundance of many different kinds of crops such as cotton, tobacco, rice, sugar cane, and indigo.…

This why slavery was so important to the southern political leaders. If the southern states didn’t have slavery their plantations would have most likely failed and they couldn’t produce anymore cotton. Since the northern states had industries and factories they didn’t have the need for slaves anymore. Many of the northern states had abolished slavery except the states bordering the southern states.…

During the 1780s and 90s the southerners viewed the northerners as people ruined by city living, dependent on paying low wages to a hard-working underclass of immigrants and the poor. Southerners also believed that northerners culture was its commercial and industrial interests, and prosperous family-owned farms. Both North and South believed that they had different manners, habits, customs, principles, and ways of thinking. The South believed that the North spoke differently, ate differently, and worked differently…

Differences between the three colonies are distinct. The New England and Middle colonies acquire an identical social structure compared to the South, which has slaves and indentured servants. The New England and Middle colonies dislike discrimination because of their lifestyle, which designates man as equal in God’s eyes. Another dissimilarity is religious toleration. Although the New England colonies have an equal social structure, they do not endure those who possess a different faith other than a Puritan lifestyle. The Middle colonies possess a strong certitude for religious freedom. This is shown in their welcoming of other people of different faiths. The South also possesses some form of religious toleration for others. The economy of the colonies is also different. The New England colonies have a manufacturing type of economy because of the infertile land compared to the Southern colonies, which has a farm-based economy. The environment impacted the economy and agriculture in the New England Colonies; farming was not as important for making a living because of climate and geography. The environment also impacted the economy and agriculture of the Southern Colonies; farming was an important way to make a living because of its climate and geography. The differences between the New England Colonies and the Southern Colonies in agriculture included the climate and geography. The New England Colonies looked to their natural resources as a way to make a living; the environment forced them to look for other ways to make a living other than farming. The Southern Colonies didn't develop all their natural resources as a way to make a living; there was excellent soil for farming income, so there was no need to develop natural resources for manufacturing. The differences in manufacturing occurred between the Southern Colonies and the New England Colonies: The Southern Colonies developed their main natural resource, their farmland, and not much manufacturing; the…

In this time period, I would have been a wife to a delegate, seeing as I am a female and can not be a delegate myself, and I would've like to be a Northern colonist. As a woman, I would have felt pressure caring for any children that I might have had due to the idea of republican motherhood though I would have had better opportunities in education than the original colonist women probably had (Kennedy 159). Being an individual person, I would probably have my own opinions when it came to certain things. I would most likely be for the abolishment of the slave trade because, being from the north, there would not be as much need for slaves where I lived because most slaves lived in the southern colonies and worked on large southern plantations (Kennedy 68-69). It was also…
