Obesity increases the risk of diabetes, hypertension, high blood cholesterol, coronary heart disease, stroke, arthritis and many more.
There a lot of government policies and regulations and policies that help to reduce obesity among children. Some of the regulation are nutrition labeling, social marketing and education. Labeling calories on the menu in the restaurant. The Federal government plays role in promoting health by providing fresh fruits and vegetables. There are implementation of policies and regulation for food and beverages industries. High taxes on sugary drinks. Unhealthy food from vender machines in schools are prohibited.
Children whose schools serve unhealthy foods or provide vending machines with unhealthy foods tend to be heavier than children whose schools do not permit such practices. (Fox MK, Dodd AH, Wilson A, Gleason PM. 2009).
Campaign and programs in schools, churches, and in the community to create awareness and education. Intervention programs are implemented to build good relationship among parents and children.(
