4-methylcyclohexanol was synthesized to 4-methylcyclohexene using dehydration. 4-methylcyclohexanol was heated to reflux and the subsequent distillate (4-methylcyclohexe) was collected. It was then purified using sodium chloride to separate products and an anhydrous solid was then added and filtered. The resulting product had a mass of 0.399 g and a percent yield of 41%. The product was positively identified and characterized as 4-methylcyclohexene via IR and Br2 test.…

Over the past twenty years, the National Football League (NFL) has seen its product grow and blossom into America’s premier fan viewing sport. The NFL currently has 31 franchises in cities located throughout the United States. Some teams are located in major markets like New York and Chicago, while some teams are have put down their roots in smaller markets like Kansas City and Indianapolis. No matter how big the market or how poor the teams performance is on the field, one thing is constant, the NFL, the NFL owner, and the NFL players are making millions upon millions of dollars playing a game. The NFL is a money making machine. The kind we all wish we could operate or own. Every week the NFL rakes in the profits. Wherever there is money to be made, rest assured there is greed rearing its ugly little head. This project focuses on the 2011 NFL Lockout and the negotiations that eventually led to a new collective bargaining agreement (CBA) that was signed in July of 2011. (ESPN website, n.d.)…
The problem with a possible expansion though is that the NFL would still have to find new homes for the struggling teams. Commissioner Goodell also is weary of changing the current landscape of the NFL. You can’t just add one team if you are going to expand because that would leave the NFL with an uneven number of teams. Two teams would have to be added and it is unknown whether the NFL is currently prepared to expand, having just recently done so in 2002 with the Houston Texans. This would also leave two divisions with five teams, creating all types of scheduling issues.…

In a Health Affairs article entitled “Obtaining Greater Value From Health Care: The Roles of the U.S. Government”, the quality and cost of the United States health care system are assessed. This article was collaborated by Stephen C. Schoenbaum, Anne-Marie J. Audet, and Karen Davis into existence and to state their claim that without the intervention of a strong federal government in the health care system, the state of the country will be economically reflected by the lack of a federal government.…
Our society has become corrupt at each level, and the police force is no exception. While most officers are committed to maintaining honor and integrity in their service to the public, there will be crime or misconduct among both female and male officers (Gottschalk, 2011). Police officers should be upholding the image of sacrifice, dignity, and overall competency (Gottschalk, 2011). Unfortunately, corruption can happen and add distrust amongst the public toward the public service of police officers. These actions of misconduct can include oppression, racial profiling, physical or emotional abuse of power, overall mistreatment of citizens or prisoners in their care, extortion, misuse of information or perjury, and overall manipulation (Gottschalk, 2011).…
Doctors proved that, “Recent studies have shown that head injuries sustained by NFL players can eventually lead to debilitating, chronic brain diseases such as dementia” (“NFL Head Injuries). This is a problem because the NFL isn’t doing enough to protect their players. Yes, the players do provide entertainment for everyone, but if the NFL keeps being careless many franchise players won’t be able to play. NFL players should be better protected by the NFL so players don’t develop brain disease, and won’t have to get sidelined during games due to concussions. Doctors researched and found out that, “A total of 87 out of 91 former NFL players have tested positive for the brain disease” (“FRONTLINE”). This shows that the NFL doesn’t protect their players enough. Only 4 former NFL players out of 91 weren’t diagnosed with concussions. The NFL needs to take better care of players so this doesn’t happen as often. Although brain diseases due to concussions are a tremendous problem, one thing that is much worse than that is a player's chances of getting another concussion. Once a player suffers their first concussions they are more likely to develop a concussion. “Studies show, after the first concussion, the athlete is four times more likely to suffer another” (“Concussions in Sports”). This is very important because as players get more and more concussions. Eventually they will develop permanent brain damage or they…
We need to get rid of all the turf fields in the NFL to protect players safety. It turns out that players were 77 percent more likely to tear their ACL on turf compared to regular grass fields. We're not saying that players won't get hurt, because they will. Football is one of the most dangerous sports, but in any sport if something is causing players 77% more likely to get hurt then something needs to change.…

Like many of the millions of people that tune in for the NFL on Sunday, I used to find myself craving for the next big hit. I loved watching players like Ray Lewis and James Harrison smashing the receiver coming across the middle, or the running back trying to shoot through the line. It upset me when the National Football League Commissioner Roger Goodell came down hard on players for hits that we all look forward to. I began to think and wonder why Goodell would want to try and limit the most electrifying aspects of the game. It wasn’t too…
The NFL is trying to make football safe and they are spending a lot of money in making the game safer. Improving player safety is the top priority for the league. According to forbes.com, “it is now illegal for offensive or defensive players to lower the crown of their helmet outside the tackle box” (Forbes). Lowering the crown of the helmet causes head to head contact. Leading with the head can cause severe concussions. Some people think that this rule is taking safety to another level. This rule causes players to not lead with their helmet and to make safer tackles. According to USAtoday.com Reyes said, “Reported concussions in the NFL have declined by 35% over a three-year period, according to the league’s 2015 Health and Safety report released Wednesday” (Reyes). This quote states that concussions have dropped significantly because of the recent rule changes and changes in the type of helmets that are being used. Reyes also explained the NFL’s study on helmets. He said, “More than 500 helmets were tested with repeated impacts designed to replicate average hits sustained on an NFL field. Each helmet was fitted to a crash-test dummy head” (Reyes). The NFL is putting in a lot of money and hours to try to make the game safer for the players. The settlement between the NFL and ex-players is an example of how the NFL is handing the concussion situation correctly. According to NFL.com, “The NFL has reached a tentative $765 million settlement over concussion-related brain injuries among its 18,000 retired players, agreeing to compensate victims, pay for medical exams and underwrite research” (NFL, Ex-players Agree to $765M Settlement in Concussions…
The NFL (National Football League) uses many forms of technology. You may not realize it but they actually have a lot of technology in there everyday games. For example they use headphones to communicate and they use a scoreboard to keep track of the score and to know how much time is left in the game. They also use tablets to make up plays. As you can see there are multiple sources of technology and more that I haven’t even mentioned. Right now, I will only talk about one of these pieces of technology. That one piece of technology will be the earpiece that quarterbacks and coaches use to communicate with each other.…
U.S. cities that own a professional basketball and football team bring in a lot of revenue from ticket sales and team merchandising, based on the type of fan base they have. And the more their teams win, and the amount of championships they obtain, the more fans they acquire to spend more money towards their favorite teams. In contrast, the NFL (National Football League) generates the most out of any other major league in the United States.…
