APPRECIATING HUMAN RESOURCE FUNCTION

I got an opportunity to interview Ms. Ranjani Srinivasan Manthri, Associate Manager Human Resources at Collabera, Bangalore.
This is the set of questions and answers involved in our conversation.
Q: What are the challenges faced by you, as a HR Manager?
Ans: a) Providing the right support to the dynamic business b) Managing perceptions of employees c) At a ground level, managing the manager is a challenge in itself.
Q: How do you overcome these challenges?
Ans: Most of these challenges arise due to lack of proper communication. Therefore, the ways to overcome these challenges are
a) Clear communication
b) Converting this communication to action
c) Leading by example
Q: How is manpower requirement in your organization planned? What are the steps involved?
Ans: Every process depends on the business goal. This is the concept which is of prime importance.
Firstly, we analyze the requirements. A demand forecasting comes next, followed by the estimation of the manpower required. The recruitment and training processes are next, marking the ending phase of Manpower planning.
Q: What are the sources of the manpower?
Ans: Consulting, References, Job portals and websites like monsterindia.com and naukri.com.
Q: What is the way in which Performance appraisals are done?
Ans: Collabera follows the 180 degree method for Performance appraisal system.
Q: Is there an incentive system in your organization?
Ans: No, there is no incentive system.
Q: How do you deal with sexual harassment and unethical behavior in the organization? Is the individual’s personal life behavior considered or only those within the premises?
Ans: We, at Collabera see to it that every employee goes through a phase of healthy socialization and engagement wherein he/she learns the values of the organization.
We have ‘Women’s forum’ that handles the grievances of the women employees. We have the discipline forum and the orientation programmes to
