A1 - Course Description:
This one day course for service users with learning disabilities, aims to introduce them to the company interview process and to develop their skills in simple interviewing techniques. Some areas covered are key features of a good interview, understanding verbal and non-verbal communication and assessing candidates through good questioning. This course will be suitable for service users who are interested becoming more involved in recruiting future employees. On completion this course, will enable service users to be more confident when working in partnership with managers and as well as gaining valuable skills that are applicable in the work place and daily living. No experience of interviewing candidates is necessary although some knowledge of the interviewing process would be preferable.
Lunch will be provided and transport may be available on request.
Initial assessment will be completed before the start of program to ensure trainees learning needs are met.

Why service user involvement is important in the interview process?
Service users work with employees. Assess the company’s employees constantly.
Share survey/research on what company/service user’s look for in an employee.
Company strategy is to improve the quality of people hired by involving service users in process. Trainees will demonstrate their knowledge of research finding by working in pairs to discuss and list five attributes which the company and service users believe make an ideal employee.
