The author will make a comparison of Subway’s job positions and performing a job analysis of each position. There will be a description of collecting the information of the job analysis. The author will also create a job description from the job analysis, and the justification of why that job analysis and job description are in compliance with state and federal regulations.
Job Positions and Job Analysis In the episode of Undercover Boss, there were only three job positions that were identified which were the Sandwich Artist, Store Manager, and the Chief Development Officer. The two positions that are chosen for the comparisons will be the Sandwich Artist and the Store Manager. The reason why these two were selected is because they work closely with each other. Whereas the Chief Development Officer is on the corporate side of the business. The Sandwich Artist position is the first point of contact …show more content…
with the customers who enter the business. This employee prepares customer food orders, collection of payment of all food orders, and the preparations of all food. Description of Collecting Information The author chose three methods to collect the information for the job analysis. Method one was reviewing the Undercover Boss episode to understand how Subway examines the employee job descriptions. The second method was reviewing the Subway website for job descriptions. The third and final method was from the authors ten year experience in the food service industry.

Job Analysis/ Job description Compliance The author believes that the job analysis and the job description are in compliance with all federal and state laws.
The reason for this belief is that according to Melendez and Surbey (2013),The U.S. Department of Labor 's Wage and Hour Division and the franchisor of the world 's largest restaurant chain are collaborating to increase compliance with federal labor laws at SUBWAY locations nationwide. Although these restaurants are independently owned and operated, the franchisor is providing a forum and resources to assist the division in educating franchisees. Subway does this across the board at each restaurant even though most of these businesses are franchisee stores. Subway is making a conscience effort to ensure that they stay in compliance with local and federal labor
laws.
