Introduction: The book I read was Lewis and Clark Among the Indians: By James P. Rhonda. It included a lot of other information that helped me understand Lewis and Clarks view towards the Indians. It introduced me to a new name of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, the Corps of Discovery. This book was written in the 3rd person as a narrative. It was written for the purpose of informing the reader of the Corps of Discovery and its major components, also to help the reader understand the relationships between whites and Indians. Before starting this book, the reader does not have to have any prior knowledge of Lewis and Clark, since this book was very informative.…

Clark took the responsibility for composing the maps of the rivers and the land in the west. Together, and with the help of their fellow members of the Corp of Discovery, they made one of the most memorized expeditions to this day.…

Hunt finds true friendship in Edwards and a sense of self-confidence he had not known before (so poetic, right? I took this from Wikipedia...I’ll cite it at the bottom**) After many setbacks, they eventually make it to the Pacific coast just minutes before Lewis and Clark's expedition. Once the celebration is over, however, they find that they don't want to go back to their old lives and both decide to continue their adventure. This means that technically Lewis and Clark won, meaning they got the credit. Crazy, huh?…

They also worked together with people of vast races and/or backgrounds which only increased their interest with the West. They were tremendously essential to this nation’s history because they were the first white men to undertake such a journey, make such a detailed map of their travels, and detail the wildlife…

On the expedition's return, Jefferson asked Lewis to compile their new data into a map. When Lewis died in 1809 with very little of the map finished, the responsibility to finish it fell on Clark's shoulders. Clark completed the map, which was used by a great many trappers, traders, and explorers, who, upon their return, gave Clark new information to add to the map, keeping it up to date. In 1814 a journal containing the map was published under the title History of the Expedition Under the Command of Captains Lewis and Clark. Several other expeditions led by different explorers were later sent West, making significant contributions to Clark's map and knowledge of the West. This up to date map made it easier for American settlers to settle in the new western land to trade with the Native Americans, farm, or other ventures ("Opens"). The discoveries of Lewis and Clark gave Americans the confidence and know-how to start moving into the western…
