For example if I go to a mountain I will make my own trail, not follow another person’s “safe” trails. I also like to experience new things as Huck does. So actually I have more in common with Huck than I had first thought. And things Huck did that I have not done, or ever see myself doing in the near future, is dress like a girl, kill a pig to fake my death, and run away from my home. And finally I would like to compare Jim to the average African American today. First Jim is a slave and by that term not treated kindly. In fact that is an understatement. He is brutally mistreated. He earns no money to his name, He gets no vacation time, and He is literally worked to death. And has every right to have the same rights as a white person. So has a reason to run away. Now the average African American today is way better off than Jim. They all have equal rights, they earn wages, they get the same amount of vacation time as we do, have the right to vote, and equal education. But yet they still are living in the past. Why is it that a white person could be called a cracker without retaliation, but as soon as that same white person spits out the “N” word, not saying that it’s OK, they start getting mad and start yelling and threatening? Do you want to know why? It’s because people cannot forgive. Yes that part in history isn't our best moment, but that’s why it’s called history because it’s in the past. We can’t change the past we can only learn from
