Not much is known about Hugh Glass, but he was known as a true American mountain man. Very little is known about Glass until around 1823 when he left St. Louis to go fur trapping with Ashley Company. Several months into the trip the company was attacked by Indians. Glass was slightly wounded in the battle it’s what happened next that made him truly famous. Soon after the Indian’s attack Glass was mauled by a bear. His wounds included a broken leg, ripped scalp, punctured throat, and numerous gashes.
