Many people of the world holds discussion for many years about the proper was to refer to a child with dwarfism. Many people who have these condition prefer being known as “little people” or “person of short stature”. People who have this type of condition some don’t mind being called a “dwarf”. For most of the people the term “midget” is definitely not a option.
Dwarfism can be caused by any one of the 200 condition for dwarfism. The most common type of dwarfism is “achondroplasia”
Dwarfism is a physical condition in which a person is much smaller then its normal size. These types of adult that has a average height of 4 feet and 10 inches tall or under. A Dwarf head and the truck of their body are the only parts that are average, compare to a typical average person. The limbs of a dwarf that consist of the arms and legs of the person would actually be shorter than normal
At birth a average weight for a dwarf is 1.5 kg which is converted into pounds weighting 3pounds and 31 ounces at a full term baby.
There are many reason why a child developed dwarfism. In most cases its caused by a spontaneous genetic mutation in the egg or sperm cells prior to conception
Other condition are caused by genes inherited from one or both parent. In either case, two average-size parents can have a child with short stature. However, depending on the type of condition short stature is possible to have an average-size child. These condition is slightly random and unpreventable and can occur in any pregnancy. When average-size people have a child with short stature its very rare for the second baby to develop the same condition.
Dwarfism has other causes, including metabolism or hormonal disorders in infancy of childhood. Chromosomal abnormalities, pituitary glands disorders which influence growth. Kidney disease can lead to short stature if a child fails to grow at a normal rate. Most types of dwarfism are known as skeletal dysphasia, which are conditions of abnormal bone growth. Dwarfism is divided into two types: Short-trunk (Diastrophic dysphasia) and short-limbs (achondroplasias). Ones who have a short-trunk has longer limbs. The ones with the short limbs have an average sized trunk but small arms and legs. These condition occurs in about 1 in every100,000 birth or 1 in every 26,000 - 40,000 births. These types of condition depends on the genetic mutation or a inherited gene one or the other.
Some types of dwarfism can be identified through prenatal testing. But in most cases dwarfism isn’t discovered until the child is born. During the diagnosis of the condition the doctor based his information from the child history ex: child’s appearance, Failure to grow and X-ray of the bones. Depending on the type of dwarfism the child has often can be made almost immediately after birth. Once a diagnosis is made, there is no treatment for most of the conditions that lead to dwarfism.
As a child with dwarfism grows other issues may occur.
Delayed of development of some motor skills, such as sitting up and walking
A greater ability to get ear infections and developing hearing loss
Weight problems
(scoliosis) a curved spine
Troubled with joints flexibility and early arthritis
Back problems
Some of these problems come from overstress of bearing weight differently with limited flexibility
