They are emotionally abused because their traffickers tell them their family is not looking for them, or their families do not care. In most cases their family is the one of the main reasons the kids are sent off, the parents believe they are sending their kids to have a better life, somewhere else. In reality, they are sending them to be slaves or sex servants in another country. Children and women face physical abuse when they are forced into domestic servitude. They are becoming slaves for the house they are sent to and they must do whatever their masters tell them, or they will be beaten. Children, both male and female, are sexually abused, “Many victims are misled by fraudulent labor opportunities and sold to brothels...” (Vietnam, 1). Victims are often sent to brothels, sex houses, or are sold to a certain person to be their sex slave. If no one is understanding of what these kids are going through then how are they supposed to help. There needs to be better awareness in order to keep the kids safe and not be exploited like they are …show more content…
In China, women and children are used for arranged marriages, labor and sexual exploitation. In Cambodia, they are taken for sex workers, and prostitution, “Studies indicate that 15-32% fo sexs workers in Cambodia are of Vietnamese origin” (UNIAP Vietnam, 1). Most of the people who work as sex workers in Cambodia are Vietnamese people who were trafficked. There is a minor difference between the two, sex workers is where they would be a slave in one house and only “work” for the family they are living with. Prostitution is where they would send them out on the streets to find guys, or girls, to pay for the services they offer. The money they make should, in theory, go to them, however the traffickers take the money and keep adding to their debt. When traffickers take their victims internationally, they are taking them mainly sweatshops, sometimes for domestic servitude. Victims often do not know where they are going until they get there, this makes tracking and being able to take the person home

Victims are also traded, and it’s rare for a victim to stay with 1 trafficker their whole sex career. Every time victims are traded, they usually move farther and farther from their original home. Wherever victims go, they can’t keep up with their current location and ultimately get confused and lose sight of where they are. Because of their chaotic lives, victims rely on drugs to numb their everyday torture. Victims find it easier to acquire drugs than food, since some traffickers give their victims drugs willingly or the drugs being sold are unknowingly cheap and easy to acquire. With the additions of easily obtainable drugs and the stress on their mind, their traffickers abuse them. They drug their victims to prevent them from running away, and drill “programs” into their mind for any occasion. Traffickers also make the victims do sexual work for cash, easily making profit off of them. Now, what if they could run away, wouldn’t they do that? There must be times where victims have a chance to flee from the traffickers and return home, unfortunately the truth is that victims are dependent to their traffickers the moment they are…

As Edmund Burke, an Irish philosopher in the 1700’s once said “Slavery is a weed that grows in any soil” (Perrin, 2010); indeed slavery is a weed that has not yet been exterminated from our society. Like most weeds, it grows fast and is stubborn to stay. In the world today this unwanted slavery has manifested in the form of human trafficking. You may be surprised to learn that even today people are still being bought and sold as if objects and property. Human trafficking is a global problem that is on the rise particularly in Asia (Government of Canada, 2012). There are an estimated number of 2.44 million people trafficked and exploited around the world today (BAGLAY, 2011). Yet human trafficking is not only a global problem, but is increasingly being committed in our…

Everyone must put themselves in the victim’s shoes to really understand the horror of what is happening. Megan Helton said, “Due to the violent nature of human trafficking victimization, sex trafficking victims will suffer from numerous physical, mental, and reproductive injuries. Frequently these injuries will be inflicted upon the victim by her trafficker, the bottom, or the client. … Human trafficking victims have reported instances of physical injuries, as well as reproductive issues that all require attention from health care providers” (Helton 451). These victims are being tortured by evil people. Parents need to teach their children about human trafficking, so their children do not wind up in the trafficking rings. All of these actions can lead to a smarter and more aware society, which leads me to discuss what are law enforcement and health care providers need to…

Indonesia is a source, transit, and destination country for women, children, and men trafficked for the purposes of commercial sexual exploitation and forced labor. The greatest threat of trafficking facing Indonesian men and women is that posed by conditions of forced labor and debt bondage in more developed Asian countries and the Middle East. The government stopped permitting Indonesian women to travel to Japan and South Korea as “cultural performers,” to curtail a practice that led to victims being trafficked for commercial sexual exploitation. However, in 2007 traffickers increasingly used false documents, including passports, to obtain tourist visas for women and girls who are subsequently forced into prostitution in Japan, through the unlawful exploitation of recruitment debts as high as $20,000 each. Trafficking of young girls to Taiwan as brides, mainly from West Kalimantan, persisted. Traffickers use false marriage licenses and other false documentation in order to obtain visas and subsequently force the women and girls into prostitution. Women from the People’s Republic of China, Thailand, and Eastern Europe are trafficked to Indonesia for commercial sexual exploitation, although the numbers are small compared with the number of Indonesians trafficked for this purpose. The Government of Indonesia does not fully comply with the minimum standards for the elimination of human trafficking; however, it is making significant efforts to do so. While the government made clear progress in bringing sex trafficking offenders to justice, in part through use of its new anti-trafficking law, a pronounced weakness shown was the failure to curb the large-scale trafficking practices of licensed and unlicensed Indonesian labor agencies. Indonesia has the region’s largest trafficking problem, with hundreds of thousands of trafficking…

In 2006, a report filed under the U.S State Department read "The Government of Cambodia does not fully comply with the minimum standards for the elimination of trafficking; however, it is making significant efforts to do so." It is well know that having sexual relations with a under aged child is unlawful, however, law enforcement is ineffective. Many of the deceptive politicians and officials such as the prime minister of Cambodia Hun Sen and his government refuse to take action mainly because it is benefiting the government and the country. The Cambodian government is choosing to ignore the Trafficking Victims Protection Act enforced by the U.S Department of State’s Trafficking due to the fact of their loss of money. Cambodia is currently in a state of mass poverty and the sex trafficking is the reason of the economy slowly rising again, which is why the government refrains from taking any action. Also, many families that are financially unstable of supporting a child and/or need the extra money to feed themselves turn to sex trade, selling their daughters as a way to obtain money. The only con the Cambodian government suffers from is from appeasing international aid organizations that want sex trade to stop and their consistent complaints to the Cambodian government. Unfortunately sex trade has become a multimillion-dollar sex industry in Cambodia. International…
