Humanitarian Club Report
I created the Humanitarian Club to promote global issues in my school and also to promote Special Education inclusion. After drafting a proposal, I went through my school's principal and got approval to submit it to the school board. My club got approved by the school board and ever since then, we've made a huge impact on the community. Last year we made 118 Operation Christmas boxes that were sent around the world. Some other projects include promoting inclusion with our Special Ed children by participating in Special Olympics sporting events, philanthropy work for community improvements such as a much needed guardrail to prevent more deaths, and animal welfare events to promote spaying and neutering. The club has benefited the Special Education

Under the presidency of S.A.D.D (Students Against Destructive Decisions) in my high school, I've conducted and lead many projects to help many organizations and even planned and coordinated many community service projects. But, out of the many project that the club and I have planned and created, I would have to state that I've projected my leadership role the most while our club and I went to Feeding South Florida for a field trip that I've planned. The reason why I state this is because, Feeding South Florida was a common place that many people knew, especially our members, and so before we got to the warehouse, I've explained the purpose Feeding South Florida stands for and the job that we would have to do there. When we got to the warehouse and began working, I would help the members and other volunteers carry boxes that were a bit heavy for them to carry and to help them understand how to sort the items that were donated to the warehouse into categorized boxes that they had provided to us. The purpose on why I led this project is because of the purpose behind Feeding South Florida, which is to collect, pack and send foods to the many shelters and food kitchens that they have provided in South Florida and working on this project created a positive effect on my life. The reason why I state this is because, while volunteering, it made me feel as if I was privileged.…

    Odette Peace Corps Report

I felt an automatic connection with Odette’s story as I will soon be serving in the Peace Corps within the African Continent, as Odette did in the early 90s. Odette served in Rwanda, until 1993, when the Peace Corps suspended its program within the country due to developing internal tension. Afterward, she took a few short-term jobs in Kenya, Gabon, and Burundi until in 1993 violent conflicts erupted in Burundi due to the death of the new Hutu president after years of Tutsi government. It was at this point that the Peace Corps decided to recommence their work in Rwanda. Prior to the operations implementation, the rhetoric on the radio had already turned antagonistic. The Peace Corps employees were reassured that they would be protected by the UNAMIR. Even so, shortly before the genocide in Rwanda, eighteen American Rangers working with the UN in Somalia were killed. It was likely due to this even that the UNAMIR in Rwanda did not get involved…

Within my school, I am also a member of the Bass fishing team, Volunteens, and National Honor Society (NHS). I have been a member of my high school bass fishing team for all four years of high school. On the team I compete in tournaments each spring to earn a spot on the post season roster. Members of the team are also required to sell raffle tickets to pay for our shirts and other expenses. My freshman year on the team I was one of the top sellers, selling over one-hundred tickets and have continued selling as many as possible. I discovered that the best way is to sell the tickets at our high school boys basketball home games and at the community fish fries. Volunteering in my community is also very important to me, and because of this I joined the Volunteens at my school. With the Volunteens I have helped with the paper…

For the past 10 years, I have been a member of the Busy Workers 4-H club along with holding the offices of Treasurer, Secretary, and currently President. Through 4-H I have been involved in a multitude of community activities. Every year my club and I hold an annual Bingo Night with the developmental disabilities home in our community; playing games and giving out prizes. Additionally every Christmas we sing Christmas Carols to the nursing home and then host a Christmas party for the residents. Furthermore, on my own, I have assisted with the Public Library’s Summer Food Program. During this program, I served lunch to the children, and then read books to them. This past summer I aided in tearing down an old community baseball field fence and…

During eighth grade, I was contacted by the University of Michigan Dearborn SIFE program. I was challenged to come up with a product used by students that needed to be improved. SIFE used my idea and it brought me into the U of M family. For two years, they used this project and I was heavily involved in it. I attended summer programs, meetings and planning committees. After that two years passed, it was declared that the SIFE program was dissipating and along with it the community service opportunity. I did not want to lose this so with the help of the UMich faculty, a year later, I was matched with the Alpha Kappa Psi Business Fraternity. From there, we tried implementing the same program that had worked with SIFE. Although it worked, I did not see the summer program participants gaining much from it because most of it had to do with things such…

To enact change in my community I have recently taken part in the “I Rock Pink” organization. In which we host big events such as golf tournaments, galas, picnics and all sorts of events in order to raise awareness and financial support. Our main goal is to educate and alert our community about cancer and what it feels to have cancer. Along with teaching and raising awareness we also try to fundraise. For instance in 2013 we donated $20,000 to the Wellspring Chinguacousy Foundation in regards of cancer research. Likewise my family and I along with some neighbors go around our neighborhood and pick up any garbage or waste on the streets, to keep our community clean and good-looking. In the future I want to grow our neighborhood group and want…

Multicultural education is an idea , an educational reform movement and a process whose major goal is to change the structure of educational institutions so that male & female students and students with diverse racial , ethnic and different sexual desires will have an equal chance to achieve academically. Compared to other countries , Japan is more accepting to its sexual minorities as there’s no laws against homosexual activity and they don’t discriminate based on sexual orientation . First aid case was reported in 1985 between gay men . In 2003 , there were 9500 case of persons with HIV . The efforts to educate Japanese citizens on HIV/AIDs has been complicated by political as well as educational obstacles rooted in homophobic prejudice as much as bureaucratic slowness. In 1991 , the number of aids contracted through heterosexual behavior had increased 350% which resulted in the school association for student health to recommend inclusion of condom information.…
