While I was making my scarlet letter story, I began to think about the feelings that Hester Prynne may have felt. When Dimmesdale did not stand with her, she must have felt some feelings of despair or
disappointment. I wanted to make sure that the feelings of sadness stood out in my story, which is why I have the paragraphs split in the way I have them. I used separate one line paragraphs to emphasize and show how despairing the feeling was. The line “only ashes remained” is meant to give off the feeling of being lost and empty, like how Hester Prynne must have felt. I wanted Pearl to revisit the past and bring up old memories of pain and anguish. I used the lines where I repeat “he was” to show the personality of Dimmesdale and how cowardly he seemed in the story. The last two lines represent how stupid Pearl feels for believing in Dimmesdale, and how pitiful her mother was for loving a guy like Dimmesdale.
