Hunger Games By Susan Collins: Summary

In the story “Hunger games” by Susan Collins, the main character, Katniss Everdeen is forced into the hunger games. Over a 3 year course, Katniss shows a great deal of changes in and out of the Arena. Katniss must leave her family including her younger sister Prim to take care of herself. Katniss herself is not certain she will return. She leaves all the responsibility in her sister’s hands. Once the 74th hunger games is over, katniss returns home to her mother and her sister only go straight back to the capital. President Snow has ordered the “3rd annual quarter quill” She then realizes that once you enter the hunger games, there’s no going back. Katniss must not only return home to her family, but show leadership to her district. And for
She’s an outsider and is alienated by those in the capital. In the capital, wealth is a major key to living. If you were not wealthy, you immediately stood out from others. Their way of living was much different than Katniss’s. Katniss understands she must blend in with those in the in the capital. She ignores the fact that she must blend in because it wouldn’t matter. She’s only in the capital for 4 days and then into the games she goes. As Katniss leaves the hunger games alive and healthy, she goes back to Prim and her mother only to go straight back to the capital and into the hunger games for the “3rd annual quarter quill” Katniss now must not only go back into the hunger games but, onto the 74th victors tour in which victors from the last hunger games goes on tour to all of the districts and present a speech to those in the district about how great the capital is. Although Katniss disagrees completely with the capital, she must say only positive things about or else she will pay the consequences. Katniss must step up for not only herself, but for her capital.
