They try to get all of the food and water they can get, but suddenly everything turns black. The lights are out and the power is gone. The hurricane starts coming. “Here are some candles.” my mom screams as she searches through cabinets and boxes. “I found a fan too!” My grandmother is panicking and grinding her hands into my mom’s skin. It starts getting hotter and hotter. My dad tries to shut and board the windows, but we get a leak. I glanced at the window and there was an ocean outside. There was water everywhere. …show more content…
As my grandmother is shaking, she whispers, “Is this it?” Everyone in the building starts to sweat, then I hear a BOOM.
A tree crash lands like a plane on the ground almost damaging the house. My mom starts crying, my dad is frightened, and my grandmother starts panicking. “I think the storm is only beginning.” my dad sighed. The next few days were rough for us. It was hot and stuffy. We had little food, but just enough to last us the next few days. The house was slightly damaged, trees fell in the yard, and some things were missing. Luckily no one was injured or killed in my family.
“Hopefully the power will come back on soon.” my mom yawned as she woke up.
“We don’t have many candles left and the batteries that we have left in the flashlights could die soon.”
We went a few more days without
power.
“The power turned back on!” my dad screamed with joy.
Finally the water cleared and the power was back on. My grandmother started crying. Joy was running down her face as she held onto my ant sized hand. My almost 3 year old self is finally calm now. These few days have been rough but I’m glad it’s over.
We spent a few days cleaning up the yard and house. My dad and uncle helped repair my grandmother’s house. When the house was fixed you could see the joy in her eyes.
“Thank you Damien and Mark. I will never forget this.” she cried.
Everyone was happy that it was over.
My mom called to make sure that everyone was okay. Thankfully everyone was safe and only had little damage done to their house. Everyone got together at my grandmother’s house and had a feast to think and be thankful of everyone not being injured and everyone being with each other after a nightmare that struck us a week before.
“Thank you is all that I can say at this point” my mom explains to everyone.
“That is all everyone needs to say after everything that just happened.” my aunt laughed
“Let’s eat!” my uncle laughed before we said our prayers and blessed the food. We blessed our food and talked about everything that happened in everyone’s house. “How does it feel to have air conditioning again?” my dad laughed to my grandmother. “Amazing!” she laughed. We all are so glad that everything was over and our life would go back to normal.
