my least favorite character. Nearly all the characters were very believable in their roles because of how their voice and movement corresponded to their character.
First of all, the mood and tempo in “Hurry Up Santa!” changed depending on the type of scene that was being acted out.
For instance, during the scene with the children, the mood was very joyful with all the bright music and festive while the scenes with the elves had them scurrying around with very fast paced music playing in the background signaling that the mood had changed to a more humorous and frantic mood. The difference in music and scenery shows how the mood has changed since the frantic elves trying to get things together differed from the wonderful atmosphere set by the kids singing about their joys. This important because the shift in mood helps the audience connect with what is actually happening. In addition, the tempo was also constantly adjusted according to the scene such as when the slow tempo that had occurred when the times were gloomy since the five children wishing for Santa to be safe. This in turn transitions into the fast tempo of the scene with the elves finally fixing all of the problems and are sure that Christmas will be saved. The tempo changing with the different scenes suited the mood because the sad, gloomy scenes were accompanied by a slow tempo while the crazy, weird, and all around fun scenes had a fun tempo. This helped the play all together because it gave each scene a speed that went well with what was happening in the direct moment. From these examples, it can be said that the tempo and mood were modified to fit in with each different
scene.
At any rate, there was a character that became my favorite because of the way he acted, but there was also a character I did not enjoy due to his attitude. In particular, Boots, the nervous wreck, was the character that stuck out to me as my favorite because he is the one I can most relate to. Boots’s nervous acting really connects with me because I get very nervous when talking to people I do not know or when I am tasked with a position that requires responsibility. Because I could relate to how Boots acted, it was hilarious, interesting, and made him a clear favorite. On the other hand, Flood was my least favorite character since I despise it when people act in a way just to ruin everyone else’s day. This shows how Flood’s little plan to ruin Christmas really made annoyed and not like him as a character. This is crucial since I enjoy stories that have a character that I do not favor, so I could laugh when things do not go there way. To conclude, I coined my favorite character as Boots since he acted in a way that was humorous and is a nervous wreck like, but I disliked Flood because his actions only negatively affected other people.
