by Malala Yousafzai. This biography was a very heart touching book over Malala Yousafzai life and her incident with the Taliban. Malala was born in Mingora, Pakistan on July 12,1997. She is known worldwide for her beliefs and her strength to stand up for herself and the other woman around her. Malala Yousafzai was born July 12,1997 in Mingora, Pakistan which was located in the country’s Swat Valley. She lived in her hometown, which was a tourist spot that was very popular for their festivals. She attended school that her father had founded. Her and her family always valued their education. When Malala was ten years old they began to have problems with the Taliban. It was led by a man named Fazlullah. The Taliban began to make very strict rules: CDs, DVDs, and TVs were not aloud in anyone's home, women were to remain purdah, and girls could not be educated. Malala and her father both strongly disagreed with not letting girls be educated. She began blogging anonymously about living under the Taliban’s threats over women's education. The situation got so bad that people began to leave Swat Valley and eventually Malala's family left as well. After three months of living outside of Swat Valley they were able to return back to their home. Once they had returned she began to gain for fame for standing up for girls education. When the local Taliban banned girls from attending school Malala got really angry and started writing a blog for BBC where she talked about her life under Taliban rule and promoting girls education in the region, she was only 11-12 years old.
