Nobel Peace Prize in 2013. In 2014, she was nominated again and won, becoming the youngest person to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. I Am Malala is the remarkable tale of a family uprooted by global terrorism, of the fight for girl’s education, of a father who, himself a school owner, championed and encouraged his daughter to write and attend school, and of brave parents who have a fierce love for their daughter in a society that prizes sons. I would definitely recommend this book to others young adults and teenagers. With the constant world news of Taliban always coming on the television, this teaches young readers a real life personal story on how hard life is in the East.
The authors of this book used a lot of dialogue and imagery.
This helped make the story of Malala more intriguing and helped the readers be curious on what happens next. The great imagery used in this book helped better picture how it must be more Malala herself. (insert 2 examples then explain both). These stylistic elements helped keep my attention while reading the book. I loved the creativity used by the authors. (why?). This book suits any type of audience. From young teenagers to adults that love person narratives and world news action. It is one of those books that is easy to understand but is also like a movie. (continue on elaborating this). Some audiences that would not like this book are readers that do not like listening to the author talking about themselves or anything with war or Taliban. It is also a very cultural book. Explaining her culture and the village she grew up in before she moved. (continue on elaborating on …show more content…
this).
I personally did relate to some of the authors experiences. (insert some examples).
“I love my God.
I thank Allah. I talk to him all day. He is the greatest. By giving me this height to reach people, he has also given me great responsibilities. Peace in every home, every street, every village, every country, this is my dream. Education for every boy and every girl in the world. To sit down on a chair and read my books with all my friends at school is my right. To see each and every human being with a smile of happiness is my wish” (page 313). This means that her spirituality and faith in Allah is what keeps her strong and is the center of all of her obstacles. This quote is simple and clear as Malala Yousafzai speaks from the heart and explores her dream for the entire world from the perspective of a
teenager.
The plot was sequenced chronologically. It began explaining how she was born. Most girls in the community weren't seen as a gift. No celebrations were thrown for her. However, her dad knew Malala was very special. Then Malala began talking about how her culture, it is mostly about women taking care of the kids and cooking and the men go out and go to school and work to make money. Then, the taliban was introduced.
The book I Am Malala was a learning experience because Malala’s father thinks girls should be given the same educational opportunities as boys and that women should not be treated as if they are nothing more than property.
Yes, I would recommend the book I Am Malala to teens and adults because I think they will find it meaningful. It talks about the lives of a Pakistani teenager and her family. Also, the difficulties of living in a country that is in the clutches of extremists. It definitely will make readers a bit more thankful for the educational opportunities we are afforded in this country. It also delivers a strong message to each reader about the value of the education.
