I Am Number Four Essay

Growing up I read almost everyday. Reading took me to places I never thought I would go. I've been an alien fighting against others to save earth, a lost bird looking for my mother, a highschool kid going through what every other high school kid goes through. Of course that was before technology took over my life but I still manage to pick up a book every now and then.

I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore, one of the most interesting books I've ever read, is the first book in the Lorien Legacies series. I originally only started reading this book because we had to read two books to past the class. At first I would just skim through it just to get an idea of what it was about but after a few chapters I started actually reading it and it was one
When I was little I didn't think much of it but now I see how it helped me. In a way Happy to be Nappy by Bell Hooks and Chris Raschka taught me self love. Happy to be Nappy had all types of black hair in it; Short, long, twisted, braided, every natural hair style you can think of and that's what I liked about it. I remember when I learned to read I felt like I could do anything. One of the first books I learned to read was Are You My Mother? by P.D Eastman. I read this book everynight with my mother before bed. I'm not sure exactly what impact this book had on my life but I know that in a way it made me appreciate my mom more. The bird in the story asked every animal if they were his mother and they said no but then he found her, another bird just like him, just for him.
