In the article, “Want to Get Into College? Learn to Fail”, Angel Perez argues that if students want to get into college they must learn to fail. Failure isn’t something that we want to happen. The way Perez perceived failure is that it’s a learning tool for the future. Seeing someone else fail can teach another of what not to do. Perez wants his readers to know failure isn’t the end but is the beginning of something…
I think that Hal should pass math because he's actually doing very well if you look at the box-and-whiskers plot. When you look at the test/quiz grades, you'll see he makes 75-91, which is passing grades. If you look at the median. It's a B. The first quartile and third quartile are satisfying gades. This demonstrates why he should pass math.Admittedly, he do have some 70's, however it's better than the 69.All in all, Hal has made some good grades which means he should pass math.…
When we went to the library to find a book for English class, the first book I checked out was entitled The Last Nazi. It was a book about the last known nazi that lived through the holocaust. It was interesting at first but then it was really hard for me to continue to read, because not only was it a historical non-fiction, it also included a large variety of words above my reading level. The second book I chose was, Calculus The Easy Way, one of the reasons I chose that book was because I thought it was going to help me in math, but It was not a good choice for my essay. The third book I chose was from the library, out of all those books I couldn’t find a good one. When I was ready to leave, a book on the checkout counter caught my eyes. The book title is Need. It's about teens living in Nottawa, Wisconsin who join the newest, hottest, networking site. It's a site that allows people to request anything that they NEED. However, access to this site is only by invitation only. Anything at all can be asked and your request will be fulfilled only if you accomplish a certain task that will be assigned by the site itself. It's a fast paced book, it takes social media stalking and bullying to a whole new level.…
“Are you ready for a unique learning experience that will help you succeed in college? Through AP’s college-level course and exams, you can earn college credit and advanced placement, stand out in the admission process, and learn from some of the most skilled, dedicated, and inspiring teachers in the world.” This excerpt comes from the main web page about AP course on College Board’s official website. In 1900, the College Board was created to expand the availability to getting a higher education. Formed by a handful of colleges, their purpose was to simplify the application process for students and college admission offices. More than a century after evaluating those first test-takers, their job has been helping more than seven million students prepare for a successful transition into college each year, and continue to serve the education community through research on behalf of students, schools and teachers. Over the last several years it has become crucial for high school students to take AP or Advanced Placement courses in order to get into a good college, or at least that is what they tell teenagers. As a former high school student, I was constantly told by the college admissions committees how it would make a difference to see that I took AP courses on my college application and got good scores on the AP test, but was it really worth the time and effort that I put into those classes? Because of the stress over the work and the obsession getting accepted into a good, AP classes are doing more harm than good.…
I sustain a high grade point average of 3.8 while engaging in college preparatory classes such as College English, Pre-Calculus, Chemistry, and – in a previous year – Biology 2. In addition to my current attending classes, I also take an online college math class that assists me in solving problems in real world situations. Education has been one of my first priorities since childhood, and I plan to further advance in my studies each day. I have in many ways shown my characteristic of scholarship. In addition to my scholastic achievements, I participate in various co-curricular activities that demonstrate my involvement with the school and community.…

History Student” my junior year. Since I was little, I have never been good at, nor interested, in history. This changed my junior year when I fell head over heels for my US History class. The past two years when I had taken the AP tests for my history classes, I made mediocre scores. And the thing is, I wasn’t even bothered because that was how disinterested I was in those classes. However, when I took the AP exam for US History, I was able to get a 5 on the exam thanks to the hundreds of hours of work put into studying. At the end of the year, I also received the Outstanding Student award, for a class that I never thought I would excell in. Because of this, I was also inspired to see history through the the eyes of my grandparents and their elder friends, who could describe the aftermath of Pearl Harbor in much more detail to me than a textbook. That’s why this award is so special and significant to me, because it represents the hard work and time I put in to become a better and more educated person overall, and also because it represents the curiosity of…
I feel I should receive this scholarship award because I am a worthy recipient who will not take this opportunity for granted. This scholarship will help me to get my degree in Early Childhood Development. By earning this degree, I will then be able to one day own my own daycare/youth facility. I would love the chance to work in the field of Early Childhood Development because it will allow me to challenge and enhance their minds. Just the idea of knowing that I can help make a difference in a child/children education would be a privilege. I've noticed during my enrollment for the fall semester that am probably one of the oldest pupils. In a way I feel that it gives me a little advantage due to having more time to experience life, others and the world itself. I have set forth my goals in life which makes me now more determined and motivated to take this opportunity given to me to learn all there is and succeed in reaching my goals. I’m Persistent, this truly is a quality I need to have to be successful in all I do. I’m willing to apply myself and never give up because I am worthy of this scholarship. I know by me being and staying persistence will paid off. I'm Unique, thankfully, there is only one of me. It is up to me to find a way to highlight the special qualities I possess, so others see them, too. I Can Overcome Obstacles, so please don't tell me I can't do something because I will try even harder to prove you wrong! Like many other students I know, I have traveled a bumpy road to get where I am today, but those obstacles gave me strength and helped me appreciate the truly important things in life. I possess these qualities and I believe in me.…
My reason for dropping out of school and getting my G.E.D is because I don’t do well in school I don’t get along with the teachers or the kids although I do make some friends there are other kids who I just don’t get along with I don’t like work or homework because school isn’t for me I hate it along with immature teenagers who think life is a game plus I think getting my G.E.D would be better and faster for me it will be good to because I’m under C.Y.F.D custody and I already took the Pre G.E.D test and past everything but math so instead of having 8 classes each day I will have one math class every two weeks which will take the stress and my school depression off of me and I will have more time for a job and to take a Driver’s Ed class to get my learners permit and since I’m more grown up and more mature than most kids because of the life I had it would be best for me to get my G.E.D rather than stay in a place that I don’t like and fail out of school like…
Personally I am not better than the others applying for scholarships. I am not high and mighty but neither am I low to sabotage some one else by putting myself above them. If you’ve read my essays you will understand about me you will see why I need the scholarship and if you have not well then I am happy for who ever receives the scholarship. I am just as deserving of a scholarship as the person in line in front of me. Some might think that it’s selfish to think that by receiving this scholarship it will put me a step closer to the goals I have placed on my road of life. But in reality it will give me the financial backing to continue my education to university level to continue to reach for the stars no matter what stands in me way. I think that the goals and education choices I have set for myself are great. I would love to spread my passion to others and help others achieve success with their education; I want to share what I know. I want to ensure that students are learning what they need to learn to make it in the world, not just be taught how to pass a test. I want to show my future students work on the wall of my future classroom. I do not want a test but the efforts that I went through to show in their life and in their work. That’s why I need this scholarship I want to show the fruits of my past teachers in my work because in reality it was them who gave me the nudge in the right direction. Being a doctor was not my path being a Great teacher was.…
