There is no doubt that men and women are attracted to each other, which, according to the theory of evolution, is attributable to the human’s survival instinct. But to whom does this reciprocal attraction primarily apply, and are some individuals more attractive than others? In that case, what decides that? These rather intricate questions are treated and addressed in Peter Holley’s article “I have a dad bod. Here’s why women love it” from the 11th of May, 2015. In the article, Holley elucidates and clarifies women’s attraction to men, claiming that it exclusively and indubitably concerns men with dad bods, for which reason they are more desirable than men who are fit.

The informal language creates a casual and relaxed atmosphere, which is instrumental in forming a close and warm relationship with the reader. Nevertheless, the language is also formal owing to the sentence construction that is mainly complex. The sentences specifically consist of main clauses followed by one or more subordinate clauses, e.g.: “He soon met a promising 26-year-old woman, with her own career, who loves going out for beers but is in great shape.” (ll. 1-2, p. 5). Furthermore, a lot of polysyllabic and complicated words are used, for example: “subsequently” (l. 2, p. 2), “deconstructions” (l. 2, p. 2) and “innocuous” (l. 1, p. 1). The polysyllabic words combined with the long and complex sentence construction complicate and impede the reader’s understanding of the described events and experiences.
