I Hope You Dance Analysis
Her classes are taught by her personally. They are small. She consider them to be “very personalization” and she gives the students “Individual attention” So If you are a parent of a dance student who wishes for your child to receive that kind of instruction. Then that is what they will get at Mohawk Dance. The students at her studio are to be having a recital at Mohawk Regional Trail high school June 24th for the first time. The theme for the recital will be “I hope you dance.” I recall that is song which is done by Leann Ann Womack a county music person which I am familiar with. The recital will feature Tap, Ballet, Jazz and a little Hip Hop. So it could be a very nice recital base on what I know about the song. She plans on doing a recital

Another major accomplishment of Grant’s presidency was his ability to improve Indian relations. In his inaugural address, Grant refers to the Indians as “the original inhabitants of the land”, suggesting that there should be an “endorsement of a policy aimed at making the Indians just like us, … white Americans”. During the 1850s when he served in the Pacific Northwest, Grant learned a great deal about the Indian communities, viewing them as a group of people that, if left alone, would have adopted peaceful relations with the Americans. Grant observed that the Indians were “insignificant in prowess and numbers” due to abuse by American settlers. During this time of justified Indian massacres, Indians began to fight back against those…

First major Choreography “Jardi Tancat” which is Catalonian for “enclosed garden” by Nacho Duato performed in 1983 is based on Catalan folk tales. The work explores the hardship and sorrow of the Catalonian people as they struggle working in the barren, water stricken Catalonian land. Throughout Jardi Tancat you can see the presentation of contemporary dance, with a background of classical techniques; this is evident through the training accompanied. Throughout the performance you can see the influence of social, historical and cultural climate. Also the choreographer’s background, philosophical underpinnings, experience and intentions have an impact on the way the Nacho Duato’s piece came together.…

Although most scholars simply define it as the art of designing and arranging dance, American ballet icon George Balanchine distinguished dance choreography as “an expression of time and space, using the control of movement and gesture to communicate,” (Anderson 5). This definition puts emphasis on the rigid structure and body control required to successfully produce a piece of choreography, an idea not uncommon in the ballet community (Conoley-Paladino). Like Balanchine, modern dance icon Merce Cunningham defined dance choreography as “an art in space and time.” However, in contrast, he stated that “the object of the dancer is to obliterate” that art, drawing on the importance of…

Other forces of assimilation that rose up near the introduction of the Indian Act was both the Gradual Civilization Act of 1857 and the Gradual Enfranchisement Act of 1869 (Henderson, “Indian Act”). Both these acts were responsible for stripping the status of First Nations people (Henderson, “Indian Act”). They “were almost uniformly aimed at removing any special distinction or rights afforded First Nations peoples and at assimilating them into the larger settler population (Henderson, “Indian Act”).” The only perk a First Nations person would gain in voluntarily abandoning their rights, is to gain the right to vote, which was later acquired in 1960 (Henderson, “Indian Act”). Describing the forces of assimilation allows the reader to understand…

“And when you get the chance to sit it out or dance, I hope you dance.” (Sillers,2010, ll.8.&9.) If you had the chance to sit it out or dance, would you dance? This amazingly, inspirational song was written by Tia Sillers when she was at her breaking point, sitting on the beach just after going through a heart wrenching divorce. It really is peculiar that such an inspirational and beautiful song such as “I hope you dance” was written at such a devastating time. As she sat beside the ocean, pondering on all that she been through, she realized, things aren’t so bad. She interprets this in her lyrics by saying “I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean.” (Sillers,2010, l.5) “I hope you dance” is unmistakabley pulled from deep within Siller’s soul. Anyone who hears this song, and truly takes these lyrics to heart could undoubtedly pull themselves out of whatever strife they may be going through at any given time. With Mrs. Siller’s inspirational words, she truly has created the most breath taking song of our time.…

Dance is an art in which one physically conveys their emotions and individual characters. Unfortunately, stereotypes are often associated with different styles of dance, which leads to the division and prejudice in the dancing world. In Opposing Forces, choreographer Amy O’Neal makes a powerful statement on the antithetical cultures and gender stereotypes associated with break dancing and contemporary dance. She conveys her message, most blatantly, in the dance off section and Michael O’Neal Jr’s section.…

In the beginning of the story, she is introduced as a child with next to nothing and is portrayed to have psychopathic traits. Towards the end of the story, there are positive changes in her character. The main factor that led to Clarissa’s progression was her developing a strong interest in the powwow that led her to gain a sense of being a part of a family, knowledge about the community, and a better understanding of her history and culture.…

“I hope you never lose your sense of wonder/You get that fill to eat but always keep that hunger/May you never take one single breath for granted/God forbid love ever leave you empty handed.” The first time I ever heard the lyrics of this song was a sunny afternoon in July. I was riding in the car with my mom when it came on the radio, and it has stuck with me since that day. Lee Ann Womack's song, I Hope You Dance, sends a powerful message. Through her words, she displays the desire of never giving up on love, keeping an open mind about life and what it has in store, and taking advantage of opportunities when they present themselves.…
