Instruments are like extensions of oneself, and with these extensions I like to play both pieces that are already written, and pieces I create with the same
notes. When I play a previously created piece, I first have to learn the basic notes and rhythm; then I use the idea for the sound the artist originally intended to inspire my own sound, bringing the piece to life. The notes are all the same, but the feeling behind them is not. The same notes, even in the same order, can be made to sound completely different or invoke entirely opposite emotions for player and listener alike. This is why I adore music- there is no wrong way to make it; there are preferences, but music can express what mere words cannot. It can express the entire range of human emotion and then some, all the while using the same basic notes. This is where the real creativity comes in. Playing the notes on a page is easy enough. That is what I did, starting from the early age of 9 years old (as well as many others). But playing the notes is not enough. A passionate musician can find a way to make each piece their own. And that is what I love to do. Even a piece written hundreds of years ago, the composer long dead, can be brought back to life.
