In which we host big events such as golf tournaments, galas, picnics and all sorts of events in order to raise awareness and financial support. Our main goal is to educate and alert our community about cancer and what it feels to have cancer. Along with teaching and raising awareness we also try to fundraise. For instance in 2013 we donated $20,000 to the Wellspring Chinguacousy Foundation in regards of cancer research. Likewise my family and I along with some neighbors go around our neighborhood and pick up any garbage or waste on the streets, to keep our community clean and good-looking. In the future I want to grow our neighborhood group and want

I could invite people to my house and we could have ice cream before or after volunteering as an incentive. In our community, the volunteer opportunities cover almost every interest and or passion.…

I was able to assist in the preparation of this event and help keep things in order the day of for a successful night filled with knowledge and fun. Once a person has an idea or plan, whatever it may be, the only way they are going to make any difference is if they stand by that idea. David Suzuki believed when he started the David Suzuki Foundation that he could change the world, and he still does today. Because of his determination, he has the capability to change society, to change the world. Part of this quality is truly believing in what you are campaigning for, living by those standards you set, and avoiding hypocrisy. Suzuki does this by not only educating others on how to live environmentally-friendly; he does it himself, by, for example, reducing his carbon footprint by no longer travelling overseas and reducing his travelling cross-country among other things. Again, as in the case of leadership, the amount of people that idea affects is not really of importance. No matter the amount of people an idea might affect, the ideal citizen will stand by it, because change cannot happen without…

Four years ago, I read an article about an English man who stayed in China for 20 years to throw away and recycle the litter tourists carelessly leave on the streets. This man, William Lindesay, eventually realized that he could accomplish more with a group than he could alone, so he created a volunteer group. When I read that article, I was awestruck by his fierce dedication and leadership. Immediately, I realized that I too wanted to devote my life to making a change.…

Now that the election is over, I am hoping to become even more involved in the community with issues relating to the new president.
