In the very first verse of this Psalm, David declared, “The Lord is my shepherd and I shall not want.” First of all, there is the need for provisions. The need to provide for oneself and provide for ones’ family is at the heart of our human existence. This provision factor when not sufficiently meet can bring anxiety, worry, bad health, frustration and panic. In the Sermon on the Mount Jesus dealt with it the factor of provision when he said in Matthew 6: 19–33
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust does corrupt and where thieves break through and steal: but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doeth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through and steal. …show more content…
“Life” is more than your selfish wants and desires! You will be more content and more loving! Your heavenly Father will provide if you seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. God will provide. When you are convinced that the Lord is your Shepherd! You will proclaim, “I shall not want” The Economy is the number one issue in this presidential race! But God will provide! He will teach you to be a better steward of what you do have! Your stewardship is under the care and management of the Lord! The Psalmist was assured of God’s care and management. Are you convinced? And get lost. When a sheep would stray too much then the shepherd would do something strange. He would take a branch by the size of man’s arm and shave the bottom where the roots are. Then he would take that stick and put nails and small pieces of metal under the bottom. This would become his rod. Then he would take the rod and tap and break the sheep legs. He would wound the sheep to cause the sheep to depend on the shepherd. He then would pick it up and carry it on His shoulder. He would care those that broken legs by providing mediation and bandaging the legs. He bind it up. Care and love on that sheep because he never wanted the sheep to stray away again.
