ICU Personal Statement

Exhilaration, anticipation, and a heightened awareness of myriad details - these were the emotions I experienced the first time I encountered a case on my first night shift in ICU in my early fourth year of medical school. Hundreds of cases later, I am every bit as enthusiastic each time I step into the ICU. In the light of this and several other reasons, I am confident about my pursuit of a career in internal medicine.

I passed USMLE steps (თუ exams ხო არ ჯობია?...)and after graduation from my medical school I started working as a junior doctor in the cardiology department, where I spent two years and had a great experience treatingpatients under supervision of the attending, making decisions independently,and working as a member of the medical team. I want to develop more professionally and personally, and intend to take advantage of every learning opportunity and acquire the knowledge and skills to help my patients when they need that most. For these reasons I decided to study in US residency and become part of the best medical system in the world. I am willing to face challenges and assume responsibilities. I firmly believe that years of relentless work and dedication ultimately refine a human being into a confident and compassionate doctor. I worked for two years in medical schools as an invited lecturer that gave me good teaching skills and invaluable experiencein learning how to interact with students. During this period my interest for science never stopped; currently I am doing research which exposes me to the state-of-art-basic research and helps me acquire thorough understanding of all related disciplines. The fact that a career in academic medicine combines patient care, teaching, and clinical research that I value so much makes me realize how lucky I am to have found this
