Unlike former terrorist organizations, ISIS thrives with funds to keep their terrorist activities steady. An article written by Ashley Fantz of CNN called “How ISIS makes (and takes) money” she mentions that ISIS has a steady daily income due to oil purchases. They receive 1 to 2 million dollars every day because of oil sales. Not only are they involved in domestic sales but they also “hussle” in their own countries. For example, the prime customer to sell oil products to in the middle east would be someone who desperately needs it because the nonexistence of it would ruin their daily life. The significance to the fact of ISIS acquiring so much money is that this allows them to purchase dangerous weapons, get people into other countries, and to control the oil market. These facts are similar to former terrorist groups that the U.S. has dealt with before however, none have had as much power as this.
Finally, hundred of people affiliated with ISIS are within the U.S. under our noses as I write this. Their mindsets are no other than to kill Americans and take down our powerful government from the inside out. The reason it’s such a big conflict is because we don’t know who is and who isn’t a terrorist affiliated with ISIS. They’re undisclosed people in hiding that are scheming something huge.
